I haven't had any red meat since before surgery. And I don't miss it. At the beginning of summer, I was craving a burger and a hot dog, after smelling the bbq's in the neighborhood! So I satisfied that urge with a Perdue chicken burger! Threw that on the grill with some cheese, and it satisfied that craving! I have indulged in a 1/2 hot dog on the grill - no bun. Yummo. I did have an Arby's roast beef, jr/kids size, in a pinch, and it went down very well, so I guess you could say I have had red meat afterall, but that was one time, and I was scared. I peeled away all the bread, just enough to hold the sandwich while I ate the insides. What I am craving is pasta and rice!!! Our nut says we can have it at a year - so I can't wait!

Hi Lisa, I was not much of a drinker before surgery...I did have a shot of something at the kids wedding and it went straight to my head.....At Bill's Christmas Party they always have spiced wine and it is sooooo good...I was too afraid to try it last year, but will definitely sip some of it this year! Topic: RE: time between food and drink?
I am getting bad at not only drinking within half an hour of a meal, but with drinking with my meals. When we go out for dinner, I order water and drink it while I am eating. I usually only have a few sips, before surgery, I usually ordered soda and I could drink 3 or 4 of them while eating dinner!!!! I need to stop drinking with my meals and 1/2 an hour before and after meals. I have also been drinking a little bit of soda....(I know...I know.....I know!)....but it usually gives me a lot of gas, so I haven't been drinking much of it.... Holly

I have had a few bites of pasta, but it sometimes just lays in my tummy like a rock. I avoid rice because its not one of my favorites. I do eat rice cakes though lol, those are my snacks. I have tried Whole Wheat Pasta and that stays in my tummy better than the white pasta. Holly

I don't eat burgers often, but do indulge once in a while. I do OK with them. I don't usually eat a bun or bread -- just the meat and cheese. I can only eat about 1/2 of one. Pre-Surgery, I LOVED McDonalds Big Macs. I could eat 2 of them at one time....(I am so embarrassed to admit that!)....The night the PFA was issued to my son, we went to McDonalds and I ordered a Big Mac...I only ate half of it and it made me sick....yep, I I can do sandwiches. I have had sloppy joes, roast beef sandwiches. Now I eat 1 sandwich, rather than 2 or 3! I don't eat much bread period. It fills me up too quickly! We had sloppy joes at my m-i-l's yesterday during the Steeler game and I just put some of the meat on a plate and ate it with a fork! Holly

My daughter and I usually order General Tso's chicken together -- sometimes its a bit too spicey for me! I usually can only eat four or five pieces of it....and just a few bites of rice. I can eat pizza. usually just one slice -- and I don't eat the crust -- I love the cheese!!! Holly
