no and no. slippery slope when you start adding those into your diet. Many of us were and still are food addicts and these are trigger foods because of the carb content. I chose not to eat any of those things ever again (yup even the "low carb" versions). They add no nutritional value to my diet and honestly, there are so many other choices out there that are filling and satisfying. If you eat enough protein like fish or chicken on your plate, then have some green veggies, you won't even have enough room for this stuff. You will satisfied. Especially if you are eating fruit, these should be avoided all together (and throw in bread and potatoes in there too).
Topic: I am disgusted
I need to vent! As you all know I have hurt my back and was off of work for 3 weeks. In the 3 weeks I made poor food choices and have gained 5 pounds. I went back to work last week because I had to and also because I was feeling better. Well, I have had a total relapse! I couldn't walk, get off the couch or anything over the weekend. My husband had to pick me up several times since I couldn't get up myself. I went to the doctors yesterday and he basically told me I went back to work too soon and I aggravated everything. I am now dealing with sciatica on top of it all. I cannot stand up straight, I walk like I'm 80 years old, and from walking bent over and having to look up all the time, I have a knot in my neck the size of a basketball!!!! I am back on prednisone which makes me eat like pac man! What if I continue to gain? I am so stressed out! When is it going to end?????
I am so disgusted! I need to get back exercising and I physically cannot do it!
Thanks for listening!

Lisa,
You were reading my mind! I was wondering the same thing. I tossed the idea around then decided against it. I commend all that are doing this. I wish you all the success that you are looking for. Thank you, I have enjoyed reading everyone's responses in regards to this.

Ok, so maybe some of you don't have to worry about your food choices. Because of all my problems at the beginning and ongoing from the surgery. I have had to be very careful what I eat and don't eat. Since most things of substance get stuck, due to the stricture issue. I don't really graze in fact my problem is just the opposite, I have to plan my meals carefully so I WILL eat! I think the breaking the carb habit is truly the first part of it. I didn't truly realize, because of my limited ability to eat how much carbs I had added to my meals until I started and became aware of the cravings for them. The first time I did this a couple of weeks ago I realize how much they had become a part of my daily routine. I had a hard time getting them back out of my life, also why the first time my surgeon put me on the South Beach Diet. It was to break the carb cycle. That thing is vicious to say the least. I have not had real bread in over a year. Don't miss it, no pasta(was my fav) either. I have had some popcorn. But most of my carbs come from fruits and veg. Tortillas have been my thing. Also tortilla chips! I am also a big cottage cheese fan. These are things I can keep in my diet, but I will bring them back in definite moderation. This pouch test has also reminded me I need to get back on a schedule for eatting. For the longest time I actually measured out and prepared my food the night before, so I would be assured of eatting properly. I am now back at that. It is important for me because I have 3 teens living in my house as well as a brother in my office that like to eat junk. My office is about 150 ft from my house. So by preparing my meal plan the night before, I am more assured of following through. That's why this is working for me, getting me back on track before I jump the train. Not that I think it is going to do anything to the size of my pouch. Just make me more aware of what I put in it! I am aware this is a personal decision, but I did involve my nut and my dr in it also. He calls it breaking unhealthy cycles. I tend to do the same thing to my kids when I think they are watching too much tv or computer. We have electronic fasts in our house. Ususally they last about 5-7 days and then we slowly intergrate back those that mean the most to us. At 1 point the tv seemed to be on 24/7 now it is on about 1-2 hrs a day. That is the purpose of this for me. Thanks for your support. I always appreciate what you have to say. We are all on this road together.
Your friend,
Dai
Topic: RE: FIVE DAY POUCH TEST - DAY TWO
Hi all:
Yesterday, I had no problem sticking to the program with the exception of dinner, which was about 1/2 cup of Tomato Bisque with 2 shrimp (chewed to death). Other than that, I had 5 protein drinks and 156 oz of water, and 3 mugs of chicory decaf french roast with 1.5 c 2% milk over all.
Today, still no problem. So far, I have had 3 protein drinks, 2 mugs of the chicory/2% (1 cup) and 90 oz of water. I plan on a shake for dinner and one before bed with my vitamins and a couple more 24 oz bottles of water.
I weighed the same this morning as yesterday---165.
I feel fine today---no problems.
I will (hope to) ride the exercise bike at least for a half an hour this evening.
I went to the store at lunch to get some cottage cheese, and canned chicken and fish for the next couple of days.
Thanks for the support,
Dawn

WOW!! Great Job!! 3 lbs!!!! Carbs is the hardest for me as well.. They go and stay down the easiest. I always choose the carb first just cuz I know i wont feel sick afterwards.. I am looking forward to this on Monday. I have been sitting at the same weight for 3 weeks.. I think everyone needs a good cleaning.. Getting back to basics is what I need..
Thanks for helping with this, being so positive about it.. it is nice to see what you have to say..
Love you girl!

Hi, Tiff. So far, I have felt great. I did get a little dizzy today when I was lying down in my daughters bed and got up really fast, but other than that am feeling good. I had 1 TBSP of Peanut Butter yesterday and a stick of Beef Jerky. PROTEIN, so I was fine with that. Other than that, just lots of water, 3 protein drinks, a protein soup and a cup of coffee. Today I have had one protein drink and am working on my water. I'm trying so hard to resist the carbs. That's the hardest for me. I've been slipping and snacking on more carbs than I would like, so I am glad to get them flushed out of my system. I lost 3 pounds from yesterday to today. Can't beat that.
Hugs,
Tabby
