Back to the E.R. - Update

Thanks, everyone who expressed concern and offered advice. I appreciate it. I spent much of yesterday at the e.r. Night before, my temperature went up to 102 and I wasn't thinking clearly enough then to go anywhere or even to call anyone. Before it got quite that high, though, I'd started taking Tylenol, so this brought the fever under control. When yesterday started off the same way as the day before, I went to the hospital. They were very thorough, took blood, urine, did a pelvic exam, took swabs. And yes, I was dehydrated, so they gave me i.v. fluids, along with a shot of pain medicine. In the end, they had no answer for me But they were able to rule a few things out - no infection in the lab results they did have back (though not all were back) and no abcess. During the pelvic, I could identify exactly where the pain was centered when he touched it, in the cervix...exactly where that ***** gyn was working when she decided my cervix was tight and needed to be dilated and she proceeded to hurt me so badly. They gave me scrips for pain and yeast (from all the antibiotics), which I have to pick up today, and a scrip to have an ultrasound ASAP. I have to call tomorrow and schedule it. Didn't believe it would be prudent to give me more antibiotics at this point. The e.r. doc spoke with my doc while I was there and went through all this. And I'm to call my doc if my temperature hits 101.5 again. Physically, I still feel like total crap. But I am feeling a bit relieved that I was looked at and I'm hoping a severe infection or injury would have been caught yesterday. It's still frustrating and scary that this is happening and no one knows why though. Also frustrating, scary, and otherwise upsetting is missing time from work over this! And the lack of exercise I've gotten over the last couple weeks I have my big charity walk coming up October 20th and am supposed to be walking 5-6 miles every Saturday at this point! It also feels like I'm missing time out of a life I've been truly enjoying for the first time in years! Thanks again for caring - and for letting me whine. Lisa

OH Lisa I am so sorry you are still suffering from this. I hope the meds kick in and start helping along with figuring out what ever is wrong when they do the ultrasound. I will keep you in my thoughts that it goes away quickly and you make your walk on the 20th. Whine anytime! That is what we are here for. Sending you *BIG hugs* Felicia =0)

Lisa, I'm so sorry to hear that you are still not feeling well. I can feel your frustration from here about not finding out what is causing your pain and discomfort. I'm glad you got checked out even though they didn't give you answers. I'll be thinking of you and hope tomorrow brings you better health. Jenn

Lisa, I have been looking to see how you are doing. I am sorry to hear you are still feeling poorly. Let's hope for the best. Man oh man, you must be looking for a NEW OB/GYN? Let's give her the benefit of doubt and assume she was doing her best though. Try adding some yogurt to your diet when taking antibiotics - that helps with yeast infections. Dannon Lite and Fit is a good choice. the exercise will come back as soon as you start to feel better. Right now concentrate on liquids, rest and feeling better. Annette

OH NO, LISA!!! That sucks. I'm so sorry that you are STILL in so much pain and they can't figure out what the problem is. I'm so sorry to hear this. I hope you get in today for your ultrasound. Man, this must be so scary for you. Hang in there. I'm sending you as many prayers and positive thoughts that I can. Please keep us posted. All my love, Tabby

Thanks for the support The Toradol is helping - good stuff - targets the pain, but doesn't knock me out! I have an ultrasound scheduled for Thursday morning and my doc set me up with a new gyn, who is seeing me Monday afternoon. Hoping all this will be over by next week! Lisa
