I appreciate all the responses to my last question. Here's another: Are you still waiting half an hour between eating and drinking? I usually try, but don't always. Lisa

This is one of the basics that I need to get back to doing, THIS WEEK!!! I am getting bad at not only drinking within half an hour of a meal, but with drinking WITH my meals. If we go out to dinner, I order tea and drink it while I am eatting. I usually only have a few sips and then get a to-go cup to take the rest with me. I hate to spend $1.89 on a drink and leave it on the table. I need to stop drinking with my meals and 1/2 an hour before and after meals. Now I will go and hide because I know I am being a bad girl. Hugs, Tabby

My surgeon's rules are this..... wait 30 minutes after drinking to begin eating. After eating, wait 45 mins to 1 hour before you begin drinking again. I do stick with this rule religiously. Molly

I still wait about an hour after I eat. I have a really hard time with my pouch still. If I drink before an hour after I eat, I throw it all up. I get foamys really bad, hick ups so bad it hurts.. I really dont pay attention to when I drink before I eat. So I am sure I have a few sips before a meal. My Doc told me 1/2 hour before and after. So the hour after makes up for the 1/2 hour before??? Hee heee.. Luvs and Hugs! Tiff

I sip from time to time while I eat. I am trying to get back on track. My doctors rule of thumb is no liquids 1/2hr before and 1 hour after eating. Allison

It's funny how all surgeons vary. Ours (my husband's and mine) says to wait 15 minutes after drinking before eating and 45 minutes after eating before drinking. I have to stick to it or like Tiff, I feel sick. I make this my second priority (after making sure I get all the protein in). Our surgeon claims that the number one reason WLS patients gain weight is because they are not following the liquid rule. Apparently, men are more prone to not following this rule. Jenn

I drink right up until I eat but always wait at least 1/2 hour after eating before drinking again.

I drink pretty much right up 'til I eat, then wait at least an hour after eating. These are my suregeon's guidelines and he tells us to follow the "Pouch Rules for Dummies", which talks about "water loading" to keep you full so you don't eat as much. Dawn

Are you still waiting half an hour between eating and drinking? I do pretty well on this. Its become just habit now. Not always perfect but life isn't perfect... I do at least 15 mins before and 30 mins after. I just don't even get a drink when I am eating other wise I do tend to sip and then it sends me straight to the bath room to *huggles* Felicia =0)

I am getting bad at not only drinking within half an hour of a meal, but with drinking with my meals. When we go out for dinner, I order water and drink it while I am eating. I usually only have a few sips, before surgery, I usually ordered soda and I could drink 3 or 4 of them while eating dinner!!!! I need to stop drinking with my meals and 1/2 an hour before and after meals. I have also been drinking a little bit of soda....(I know...I know.....I know!)....but it usually gives me a lot of gas, so I haven't been drinking much of it.... Holly
