As we come closer to our first anniversaries, I'm wondering...anyone boozing yet? How's that working for you? What do you drink? Lisa

I get very loaded on 4 oz of wine. When I am too hungry to sleep I have some or Benadryl. Both work well. Linda

Wile I never go boozing, I have had alcohol off and on since about 5 months. Before surgery, I could put it down and hold my own. It doesn't take muc for me to feel it now. As fast as I fell it however, I am also sobered up. I have had wine, martinis, and a few other frozen type drinks. I just sip and enjoy. My favorite is a chocolate martini which I have learned to make at home.

I have tried alcohol here and there. My first time was on a riverboat and it was a warm day and after a glass of wine and a toasted almond, over a 2 hour span, I almost passed out. Don't know if it was the heat and the motion attributing to that. The next time was a Smirnoff Ice and it was too sour for my pouch, so I almost . The next time was the weekend Dave and I left the kids and I had a Khalua drink that didn't settle well, then the next day (again on a boat in the 95 degree heat) I had two wines coolers and almost passed out. This last time I had a pomagranate margarita and had dumping (also had some desert, which didn't help). Now I have 1/2 pitcher of the margarita in my fridge, a 6 pack +4 rum coolers and several of the Khalua bottled drinks in my fridge that I am afraid to try any of them. I used to have a few drinks with my girlfriends, now I am afraid to drink because I don't want to get sick or dizzy or shaky. Not fun, but I'm sure I'll try again here soon. Have you had anything? Are you planning on trying something? Let us know how it goes. Hugs, Tabby

Back in the spring, I had a few mouthfuls of a well-iced vodka and orange juice. It didn't sit well and gave me a bad headache. Haven't tried anything since, but I would like to. Lisa

Hi Lisa, I have had a few drinks. I tried beer.. Too foamy.. But is ok if you want to sip on something. I might drink like a 1/4 of it.. When I went to Hawaii I had a frozen Mi ty (spelling??.. lol. I am a dork). I had like 1/2 of it over 1 hour, felt ok.. Went out to see Donny Osmond in Concert ( I know.. even a bigger dork now!!) And had a Cosmo. Liked that drink.. But felt really tipsy over just 1/2 of it.. Sipped a little more and felt ok. I have never had a full drink. I think the sugar would make me sick. But who knows.. I just sip and enjoy. Seems like everyone is different.. I dont think it would hurt to try something. I would just do it where you can lay down or leave if you need to.. Hope this helps!! Luvs and Hugs! Tiff

Hi there Lisa! I've had wine, a few sips of beer and a few sips of margarita... Alcohol affects me differently now -- I feel the effects after much less. A 1/4 glass is all I could do. When wine tasting in Napa, there was no way I could be the driver, even with those small amounts poured. The good side? It's very economical and my BF calls me a "cheap date." I'm sure he means the alcohol...

i am a lil drunk after about 4 to 6 oz of wine so I have only had it two times. I also had a glass of champagne at my best friend's wedding but, I was never a drinker anyway. it's okay to have one once in awhile but please be careful of those sugary drinks! Wine is only the lower end of the carb scale as far as alcohol is and of course, vodka is as well but not when you add orange juice or cranberry juice. Just pouring sugar and carbs into your pouch. Anyway, if you are going to partake, I'd say there are a lot of low carb/low sugar choices out there. You can also try the Baha Bob's sugarfree mixes they sell everywhere.

I am going to have to look for those. I didn't know that they had any sugar free options.

http://www.netrition.com/baja_bobs_mix_page.html I buy ALOT of my protein stuff off this site. There are so many low carb options out there that are tasty. Not even just drink mixes, but things like low carb pretzels and pita bread.
