Five Day Pouch Test....Any takers?
Dai had mentioned a 5-Day pouch test that she was doing on the CA board and it intruiged me. I did some digging to see what it was all about and basically you start back with the basics. Do 2 days of full liquids, 1 day of soft proteins, 1 day of firm proteins and 1 day of solid proteins. Check out this link for more details http://livingafterwls.blogspot.com/2007/08/five-day-pouch-test.html
I have printed out the plan and have worked on a menu and am going to give this a try on Monday. I am 6 pounds from my goal and want to reach it by my surgiversary. I have been losing and gaining the same 4-5 pounds for the past couple of months, so I need to flush the carbs out of my system and detox, per se. I have noticed that I am snacking too much and grazing a bit. I think hubby is on board with me, too. Does anyone want to join me in this challenge? I'll post a daily thread to see how everyone is doing and how they are feeling. We could post our Day 1 weight and then after the 5 days see how everyone did. What do ya think?
Look around on Kaye's blog. She has answered a lot of questions about the test and also even has a 5-Day Pouch Test Journal to keep track of what you are eating, how you are feeling and other info. Check it out here http://livingafterwls.blogspot.com/2007/08/5-day-pouch-test-journal-useful-tool.html
Post to this thread if you want to join me and we will support each other and get us through this 5 day test. We can do anything for FIVE DAYS!!!!
If nobody joins me, wish me luck. Hey, Dai...how did you do on the test? Did you lose anything? Let us know if you have any tips.
Hugs,
Tabby
Glad you are joining me. It will be nice to have some moral support for this. I know it will be tough, but I know I need it. Gotta flush out those carbs. Yep, lets start on Monday. I am going shopping this afternoon for protein powder.Dave and I are doing it together. He has his 6 mos checkup on Wednesday. I don't think he has lost anything in the past month. He needs a good kick, too. I'll post a thread each morning for everyone to check in. I think I want to weigh in on Monday morning (well I work midnight, so it will be afternoon when I wake up) and then I am going to try to resist the scale until Saturday morning. That way I would have completed all Five Days and will hopefully get a nice suprise on the scale. If I can resist (probably not).
Are you planning your menues ahead of time so you don't have to think about it next week and have everything on hand. I need to get some fish this weekend, too.
Good luck. Thanks for joining me.
Hugs,
Tabby
It will be nice having some moral support. I think Monday weigh in will be good...I hope I can resist the scale, too, but I seriously don't if I can!!
I know I have my protein powder...and I know I have fish...we are babysitting Raven tonight while Dan is working, so I think I'll go home and see what else I have on hand and then I can go shopping.
Good luck to you, too!!!!
hugs,
Holly
Hi, Dai!!! Glad to hear you are joining us. How much weight did you lose when you did it last week? How hard was it? I know the first two days are going to be the worst. I'll post a thread each day to see how everyone is doing. I hope I can drop a couple of pounds next week. I REALLY want to hit my goal by my surgiversary. Just to say "I did it!" How much exercise did you do and what kind did you do? Next week is going to be cooler than this week...it has been 90 here, which is well above average for this time of year...so I hope to get out with the kids and walk and jump on the trampoline.
Good luck next week. Together we can do this!!!
Hugs,
Tabby
Good morning, Molly. Glad to hear you are jumping on-board with us. I can't wait. I am excited to get started. I'm going to start on Monday. I'm going shopping for my Protein Powder and fish today. I have some other proteins in the house already. I worked on Menu's the other night to make sure that I knew what I was allowed to eat on the last three days, to make sure I have the right foods and don't have to think about it or stand in front of the fridge and select something bad. I think I am going to try to avoid SF pudding because sometimes stuff like that triggers my sweet tooth. I'll just rely on my protein drinks to get in my sweet fix.
We can do this together. We will shock our surgeons at our 1 yr checkups. Hee Hee.
Good luck this week. If you have any questions, ask away. Also, you can join the community on Kaye's website. She is the one that came up with the plan and she answers questions pretty quickly.
I'll post the first update thread on Monday morning.
You can do it!!!
Hugs,
Tabby
