wow...oh, WOW!
So, I desperately needed a pair of jeans...that sounds funny when I did without them for so long! I was wearing a pair today that a friend had given me a couple months back. I thought they were a 16, but they'd gotten so loose that I figured I was wrong, they must be a larger size.
I went into a shop today and I grabbed a couple size 16s and headed to the dressing room...they were huge on me. I put them back and grabbed a 14...thinking it was probably a fluke, the 14 would be too tight...but they were also too big! So, I stared for a moment, then took them off and went upstairs to the "regular" sizes. The salesgirl looked at me and I was sure she was wondering why I was in that area...but, no, she was merely noticing my height and wanted to point out to me that the petite sizes were on the right.
I felt almost like I was in a daze...I picked up a 12 Petite and took them to the dressing room...I actually felt disconnected from myself, not fully there in the moment. I put them on, buttoned them, zipped up with ease...and I just stood there, staring, for the longest time. Then, I had to sit down. And I began to cry and cry. And kept crying. Glad no one else was in there!
Finally, I changed and hugged them to me as I went to find another pair, also a 12 Petite. I tried them on and they fit too! I didn't cry again...I did a happy dance! Right there in the dressing room in my socks, I did a happy dance!
I remember the first time I had to go into a shop called Sixteen Plus (isn't that an awful name!?!) and how horrible I felt. And I was thrilled to get down to a 16 a few months back.
This time last year, I wore a 32.
