This is a thread from my VSG board. You may recall that I am trying to decide where to set my stopping point or goal weight. Someone else had that same question on the VSG board, and here are the replies. I found it very interesting reading, so I wanted to share it with all of you. http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/VSG/a,messageboard/action,replies/board_id,5463/cat_id,5 063/topic_id,3344801/

Thanks for sharing the link Evelyn!! It helps to see what other people are thinking and feeling about this!! I have finally decided that I am *ALMOST* where I want to be. I hit 145 today!!! I can wear my wedding band and my engagement ring almost fits now. I have a LOT of loose skin on my stomach...and when I pull on it, I figure, I've probably got about 10-15 pounds that can go from there. When I started the journey, I thought I wanted to get to 124 and then have the TT....NOW, I think I only need to lose another 5-10 pounds and then maintain until I can have the TT. I'm thinking 125-130 is where I need to end up and definitely not below 120 AFTER the TT.... So...I'm almost there. It took a lot of looking at myself in the mirror and self searching to realize that I really don't need to lose that much more and that if I do, I'll be too small afterwards. As I'm comfortable with my size 10 now and will undoubtedly be at least a size 6 after plastics, it's basically time to stop so I don't get too thin. After all, I'm almost 40 and have had 4 kids....I don't need to look like a model... Just nice and healthy. Did that make sense?? LOL Susan

A size ten still seems out of reach to me! And 145! That is great. How wonderful to be so close to your goal. That makes perfect sense to me. You have done so well!

Thanks Evelyn. I'm really excited about it. Now if I can just keep this feeling when I see family. They have all heard how much I've lost so they are expecting me to look like I did when I was in college and I'm not THAT small yet....but they forget I haven't had plastics!! They don't understand the skin issue. Oh well.... Susan

I set my own goal weight not my doctor. He was not interested in looking at those numbers. His goal was for me to get off my meds and just to be a healthier person. I set my weight at 150. I am 14 pounds from that number and that is "normal". FYI Tara

I'm five-foot-nothin'. My lowest adult weight was 124, at age 19. I starved my way to that way, shot right back up to 130, and starved and "medicated" to maintain it. Even at 130, I looked fantastic...cute, curvey, just right...and, of course, I thought I was huge! Now, my goal is to be healthy and fit, strong, to be happy with the way I look, and to never diet again. I'm 46. My goal weight is 140. The tt will probably take me down another 10 or so after that, which is fine, but not part of the goal. I want to build muscle and to be able to maintain good health at a reasonable weight as I get older. 140 seems reasonable to me. Lisa

I'm 5' 10". When I hear you folks talk about being in the 140's or 150's, I get a little discouraged. I am so glad to hear that you are 5' nothing. I bet you will look fabulous at 140. I think I will look fabulous at 160- 170. Heck, we look fabulous NOW, right?

Yes, Evelyn, we do look fabulous now. And as the true experts in dealing with weight and weight loss, it's time for US to set the standard and let others come and meet it! Lisa

I set a goal weight of 125 or to be able to wear a size 6 which ever came first, well this weekend at 140lbs I bought a size 6!!! The reason I decided on a size 6 was because that is the size I wore in college and I was really comfortable at that size. My husband thinks I look great and that is all that matters. I would love to have a TT to get rid of the loose skin, but military insurance usually doesn't cover it unless there are some health problems such as repeated infections under the loose skin so I will probably have to wait a year or so until I can save up enough money.
