What BMI are you aiming for?
As I approach my goal, I am wondering what BMI you and your surgeons have chosen for your goal weight? Do you have two different goals?
I started with a BMI of 40.8.
I am shooting for a BMI of 23 - it is a weight that I felt very comfortable at - back in my 30's. My doc says that 25 would be a good place for me to stop and re-evaluate as I consider plastic surgery.
I'd be interested in your goals. You have probably already discussed this in the past, but I found you guys later in my journey, and I'd love to hear.
Thank you
I think I am shooting for around 170, bmi I think would be like 25! I know that is still in the overweight catagory! But seriously I have done the mvm.com thing and I think that is an ok weight for me! dr says I will lose 20-25 when I have the TT! So add that to that amt and I get my pre TT as 190! So that's what I'm shooting for right now! I'm 5'8" so in reality I only have about 20lbs left to go! I want that before my surgiversary on 10/31!!! I think I can!!!!
Thank you for the responses, everyone! The WLS people that I have spent the most time with are my local VSG group. Several of the folks on my VSG board have settled in maintaining BMI's of 20-22. These folks are absolutely lovely and thin and healthy. Still, it seems just way too low for ME. I don't want to set my goals for and strive for something that just won't work for my body. I've had enough failure in my weight loss history !! I have always been "bottom-heavy" and a BME of 25 would be a smashing success. Heck, what we've accomplished ALREADY is a smashing success! Right?
Hmmm...not sure what the BMI is, but definitely in the "normal" range. Which I finally hit when I made it to 147. I am almost happy where I am now as far as how I'm looking and feeling. So, I am almost done. I would like to lose down to 140, maintain and then have the tummy and possibly the girls done. I've been told I could lose 10-15 pounds with the plastics, which would put me at the 125-130 goal that I set for myself. Surgeon told me I could "go for it" and didn't set a goal for me. As I started out as a light weight and had been thin previously (seems like a lifetime ago) I took into consideration how old I am (almost 40), the fact that I've had 4 kids and my body type (small bone structure, 5'4")...and I had to decide how I wanted to look afterwards. I don't want to be pencil thin and look like I NEED to eat something, you know? So, I'm going for a weight a little more than I was when I got married and a weight that just feels "right" for me now.
Hope that helps.
Susan
