Sludge and Pollyps In Gall Bladder?
Just got my results from my routine gall bladder ultrasound (doc requires every 6 months). It says they see sludge and several POLLYPS! My surgeon won't be back in the office until Monday to review, but pollyps is scaring me. It also states that the scan was compared to my 2006 pre-surgery ultrasound, and there were not any pollyps then, now I have several.
Should I be so scared?
Hey Michelle!!
Hmmmm...I'm NOT a medical professional by any means....so I'm guessing today. But, my guess would be that sludge and polyps might mean that gall stones are forming. Like I said...JUST A GUESS.
So, to answer your question...No, I don't think you need to be scared. My suggestion is to wait till your doc is back in town and talk to him to see what he recommends. OR if he has a really good nurse, maybe you could call her for reassurance and to get some of your questions answered.
Take care sweetie and keep us updated on how you are doing!!
Susan
Thanks Susan
I did talk to his head nurse, that's who called me. said she is leaving it on Dr K's desk and he'll review when he gets back on Monday; to decide what he wants to do - wait and recheck in 6 months to see if anymore pollyps grew, or he may want to remove now and biopsy. The pollyps were not there last July when I had the initial pre-surgery ultrasound. Also, "SLUDGE" which means I'm headed towards some stones! I remember Dr K saying if he saw sludge, at time of surgery, he'd remove gallbladder.
Oh, Michelle, sorry to hear that it wasn't a clean report. Sounds like you might want to be getting rid of that thing. I'm sure this is going to be a very long weekend for you, waiting to talk to your surgeon on Monday. I hope he can put your mind at ease. Let us know what he says as soon as you hear something. I'll be praying for you.
Hugs,
