Funny little 'wow's'
Like...I went to hang up a new skirt and I folded it over, as I've done for so long, so it would be small enough to fit the hanger...and I realized that made it too small! Guess I don't have to do that any more!
And...I bought this belted holder for my cd player, for hands-free walking, and I put it on for the first time before work this past week. I left my apartment and started running down the stairs...and felt it slipping down. I stopped to tighten it, but it turned out it hadn't slipped...my skirt had! It was half way down my butt! (hence, the new skirt )
Without thinking about it, I run up and down the stairs!
Skinny women look me up and down and give me dirty looks...that hadn't happened in quite some time!
Larger women give me dirty looks at Lane Bryant...that floors me...I try to just give them a kind smile in return because I know where they're at...
People sit next to me on the bus, even when there are other seats available. Used to be, they only sat next to me when it was the last seat...and sometimes not even then. While that used to make me feel bad, having them sit next to me more frequently turns out to be no joy ride either! And, for the record, I actually prefer a big person sitting next to me and crushing me a little to a bag of bones sitting there damaging me with sharp elbows!
I went to have blood drawn a couple days back, for surgery this week, and I was discussing wls with the woman doing it. She asked me what weight I started at and I told her 300...she looked me over and said, "You would never know from looking at you that you ever weighed that much." That was cool...I liked that.
While the people around me are constantly going on about the heat, I've only noticed it a little. Sure, I put the ac on when it's up in the 90s, but going out to work in the summer isn't killing me and I'm still walking at lunch time...it feels warm, not unpleasant. I'm freezing at the office. At home, my ac is in the living room and this is the first year I haven't slept on the couch when it gets really hot. I have the fan in the bedroom and have been comfortable each night...even have to pull the covers up!
It's the little every day things that seem most amazing to me...
Anyone else got any little wow's that they might be tempted to take for granted till they think about them?
Lisa
Lisa,
little wow's to share,
1. At the hosp the other day one of the doctors stoped me because he wanted to introduce himself to one of the new nurses. I laughed my ass off when he realized who he was talking to, someone he knows and has worked w/ for 12 years.
2. I was told to get new uniforms by my coworkers, they said I could fit two people in the one I was wearing, and that was a new uniform.
3. I work on the fourth floor of the hosp. And I'm taking the stairs down instead of the elevator and am now trying to take them up, only making it to the second floor right now but that in itself is an accomplishment.
4. My thermostat at the house is set at 80 instead of 72 and right now the termometer outside is reading 95 and I'm still chilly.
5. I was told by one of the dietary staff that I'm an inspiration to her, me? I don't see myself as one, just someone trying to get myself into better health and shape.
Donna, sfy
