milk of magnesia??
Hi friends,
Yes, I'm having that constipation issue.... AGAIN! This time, Senekot, my Colon Clenz, did nothing. After 4 days, I had to resort to...... a Fleet suppository! Yes, that's what I said. Never in my life did I think I could do that, but I did. First 2 times, nothing. Waited til this morning, tried again; success. Not before having phone my surgeon's office, who told me to try M.O.M. as the suppository won't work if the blockage is up higher. Anyhow, I went out and bought some M.O.M. and still took it, as I feel like I'm not 'done'.
This is just awful. I don't want to have to go through this every few weeks for the rest of my life. I take Colace every day, obviously, it's not doing it's job; but the surgeon says to still take it. Help!!!
On top of this, I fell at work lastweek on the concrete floor, and low and behold, it triggered my sciatica... spent the day in bed yesterday, and in tears anytime I tried to walk; that, on top of TRYING to go to the bathroom, I've been a basket case! ALso, because I am on vacation - some vacation!!!! Workman's comp had to find me a dr. down here at the shore!
This is hell, and I thought, who better to share with, than my friends on the October board!!
Michelle...
First of all....bIG HUGS to you sweetie.
I, too, have problems with constipation. If I skip a day of taking senokot, I can tell it immediately and for some reason I've had CRS the past few days and I keep forgetting to take it. I keep MOM on hand so I can take it before I start having problems.
Also...I drink a minimum of 80 oz of water daily. Seems to help. Also, I take 2 magnesium every day. Between that, the water and the senokot, I am usually fairly "regular". But, if I skip anything I have problems. My best recommendation is don't let it go too long. If I go 3 days without a BM, I take MOM to get things moving again.
OH... my PCP swears that regular exercise will keep things going as they should. I may have to try that too. LOL I've been really AWFUL about exercising since it's gotten so hot outside. Gotta get back to it even if it is hotter than H*** outside.
Hope this helped...and I hope you are able to get some relief soon.
Sorry to hear about the fall and your sciatia acting up again. Hope that is better soon too!! Take care!
Susan
I have courted issues with constipation since surgery. I never had that problem in my life. I was always running to the bathroom with IBS. I know I feel miserable, bloated, and plain cranky when I havne't been able to go. I keep dulcolax around for those times. I take one small tablet. Also, Smooth Move tea works wonders. It make work to well in fact.
Hope you feel better soon.
Hi Michelle
i have awful constipation problems as well.
if i dont have a BM first thing in the morning, then it is Movicol for me. dont know if it is available in the US, it is made in the UK. sometimes the movicol doesnt work, then i take a special yoghurt with very over active cultivars which makes me run to the loo. when even that dont work, Normicol was recommended.
i work with raw pastry, and sometimes i am a bit naughty and eat it, which causes the clogging.
Thanks for telling about the MOM, the movicol and normicol is very expensive.
Dear Michelle:
Sorry to hear that your vacation is not going well.
I have issues with constipation also. How many Colace are you taking? I take two in the morning and two at night. I also try to have a high fiber cereal mixed with yogurt (Fage when I can get it), fruit (when I can't get Fage) and whole flax seeds each day.
This keeps me "going" although they are usually like rocks or pebbles. (Sorry for TMI.)
I hope this may help in some small way.......
Hang in there,
Dawn
