I am reaching out to all you wonderful people because you have yet to let me down. My family and I are going to Disney and I cannot eat that "fast food" without getting extremely sick. I am trying to think of foods I can bring or buy there to avoid any discomfort from eating the "crap" in the parks. I would appreciate any suggestions. I am stressed out over this trip and not knowing what to bring as far as food goes is not making things any better. This trip will sure be a test of willpower. Thank you all in advance and BTW you are all looking beautiful these days!!! Luv Allison

Allison, I;ve never been to Disney...do they allow you to bring any kind of coolers into the park? With ice? If so, have some cooked chicken with you and some cheeses and hard-boiled eggs. Throw in some protein bars. Some crackers and pretzel sticks. Some of those Crystal Lite (and similar) singles to add to your water. Also, my guess would be that Disney, being the ultimate purveyors of good public relations, probably carries some healthier choices as well. And RELAX and have FUN!!! You've spent the last eight months working hard to change your life...time to reap the rewards! Lisa

Hey Allison! Just wanted to echo Lisa's post. Those are all GREAT ideas. Also wanted to add that while I haven't been to Disney since 1992, I am checking into Six Flags and Sea World here in TX and they both have "healthy alternatives" at the restaurants...and one of them you can actually contact the restaurant about your health needs to make sure they will have suitable food for you that day. Surely as large as Disney is, they will have something similar. And, of course, if you can take a cooler, you can always pack your own food to eat. I know at Six Flags you can't take the food into the park, but they have picnic tables set up close to the entrance and LOTS of people take picnic lunches/snacks and just have their hand stamped when they go out to eat. Something you might want investigate. Also...just thinking....most of the time at theme parks, they have turkey legs - which would be a good choice - just skip the skin. You could also get a burger and eat it without the bun....Pizza and eat the topping only.....Hmmmm.....I'm sure there are other options too, but I'm too tired tonight to think of more... Hope you have a FABULOUS time!! Susan

I just got back from Dollywood and was worried about the same thing. We only spent part of the day there, but I prepared myself by sticking a protein bar in my bag "just in case". Even with all the unhealthy options, I found I had plenty of choices for me. I ended up finding a salad with grilled chicken and a good dressing and was very happy. I have been to Disney World several times and seem to remember that they had WAY WAY WAY more food options then the average theme park. I little research into the park and pre planning should serve you well. I am sure you will find plenty to fit your protein needs and have a blast enjoying the park(s)!

Hey Allison! Not sure if you are going to Disney Land or Disney World! Gotta say we go to Land a whole lot and there is a vast array of fresh foods as well as things like cottage cheese and yogurt there! Lots of restaurants in the park too! As well as on site just outside the park! Shuttles to take you to places and at Land there is a Denny's across from the park as well as several fast food chains! I do Carl's Chicken or the $6 burger patty for $2,or Wendy's with the chili! They are lots of options in the park though! I don't think in all the years we have went we have ever ate the fast food fare! Hope that helps!
