Always something...

Hi All, So, it's been over a week and I'm slowly getting used to saying this, so I can finally ask for support. I found a lump on my breast. It's fairly high up, on the left, and I don't even normally check up that far, but I was watching tv and running my hands over my new collarbone and shoulders...moved my hand down...and there it was. I had one of these back in '94 and it turned out to be benign. I'm hoping this one is as well, of course. I'd already had an appointment scheduled with my PCP for the next day, so I managed to tell her about it. She could feel it too and gave me the name of a breast surgeon to see, to see if I should have a biopsy. But a couple days ago, when I was in with Dr Wernsing, who did my wls, to schedule gall bladder surgery, I told him about it. He does that sort of thing too, he told me, so I am going to deal with him for it...I already trust him. He's having me get it looked at by PA Hospital's imaging center, hopefully next week, and maybe they will do a needle biopsy. If I need a surgical biopsy, he will do it the same day he takes out my gall bladder, July 12th. I'm trying not to dwell on it and I've been very focused on...well, work and play, really. But sometimes it comes up and chokes me. And it's starting to come out in a shorter temper than usual, that sort of thing. I can't believe it's...anything...still...I'm dealing with it...still... Feels good to write it out. Lisa

Thanks, Tara. I was able to schedule at the hospital's women's imaging center for June 25th. I should know at least something after that... Lisa

Thanks, Susan. Dr. Wernsing is the best. He made a good point, when we talked about it, in saying that, as our bodies change with the weight loss, we have to get used to how they feel all over again. What felt normal to us doing our breast self-exam 100 lbs ago is not quite going to feel the same way now. I had not even thought of that. Lisa

Lisa, just got on board and read your post. I'm glad you're not sitting on this and have already seen your surgeon. Like you, I had a similar scare back in '97, had a needle biopsy then a lumectomy. Thankfully it was benign. I'm hoping and praying the same will be said for you. Please keep up updated on what the surgeon finds. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Donna, sfy
