Update
I haven't been online very much lately. Work has been busy and we are getting ready for yet another vacation. I've also been dealing with the sudden death of a close friend just over a week ago (in an accident) and that has left me feeling a bit down.
This past weekend, however, was the first time since our wedding that we have been able to get away and relax, no weddings or funerals to attend, no apartment to pack or move, no house to unpack etc.
We went down to stay with The Boys parents at their summer place in Maryland. It's along a river, they have a dock and several boats. I had the chance to experience MANY wow moments.
1. Riding a bike - hadn't been on one since college..and even back then at 250lbs or so I was NEVER able to ride uphill - I could only handle flat surfaces and coasting downhill. If the road when up - I had to get off and push. This weekend I road for miles on end and climbed hills (though not excessively steep ones) with ease.
2. Climbing a ladder - we slept in the loft of the cottage, to get up to it you must climb a ladder. NO PROBLEM
3. Yard Work - our fathers day gift to The Boy's dad was tree trimming. I was yielding a saw and cutting my way through some fairly substantial limbs. We worked for 4 hours, trimming, cutting, stacking debris and disposal. I never felt as much as a twinge the entire time.
4. I stepped on the scale when we returned home and discovered that I now weigh less than The Boy and The Dog combined. This means I have less than 23lbs to go to reach my next short term goal "to weigh less than The Boy"
5. My final wow moment came, much later, at home last night. I was finally tired (come one - we did a lot this weekend) so The Boy was doing the laundry. He was folding them and I noticed him expecting a pair of tan pants very closely. I asked what he was doing and he said "I'm looking to make sure the spots came out of my pants." I stared at him and just laughed and laughed. He said "whats wrong?" to which I replied: "Dear, those are MY pants!" He laughed and then looked at me, pumped his fist in victory and said "you shrunk so much, I can't tell our pant apart!" (what a great feeling).
This week will be just as busy. It is my last week for the summer for most of my piano students. I will only continue with my three newest students. We leave for a week in Tennesee on Friday - so before then I need to finish shopping for supplies (we'll be doing our own cooking and we're going with a group), pack, buy a bike (yay!), and make sure we have everything in place to be gone for a week. Not to mention making sure I have the office prepared for a temp for the week.
I am not posting much, but be assured I am reading posts and thinking of all who are struggling and celebrating with all who are finding joy in all the WOW moments of life!
Aren't you just the active one? You have to be loving your new life. I'm so excited and proud of you. Keep up the great work and keep those wow moments rolling in. I want to get a new bike, so badly. I keep looking at them and the child seats for them. I want something fun to do.
Hope your trip is nice.
Hugs,
Tabby
