HAPPY HURRICANE SEASON
I JUST WANT TO WISH EVERYONE WHO LIVES ON THE EAST COAST LIKE MYSELF A HAPPY HURRICANE SEASON.
I LOVE LIVING IN THE SOUTHEAST COASTAL REGION, HURRICANES ARE SUCH WONDERFUL THINGS TO LOOK FORWARD TO AND GET READY FOR.
1) BOARDING UP WINDOWS
2) FILLING UP THE GAS TANKS IN THE CARS, SO CHEAP NOW A DAYS
3) GETTING EXTRA WATER, BATTERIES AND NON PERISHABLE FOOD STUFFS IN.
4) GETTING IN EXTRA CANDLES, COLEMAN LAMPS AND FLASHLIGHTS TO SEE BY AT NIGHT.
5) SITTING IN THE HOUSE (IF YOU'RE LUCKY TO BE OFF) AND LISTENING TO THE TREE BRANCHS OR THE TREES THEMSELVES IN YOUR BACKYARD SNAPPING OFF OR FALLING TO THE GROUND.
6) HAVING TO MAKE YOUR WAY TO WORK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STORM BECAUSE HOSPITALS NEVER CLOSE.
WHAT A LIFE. OH JOY, OH RAPTURE
ANY ONE WHAT TO MOVE HERE AND JOIN IN THE FUN? COME ON IT ONLY HAPPENS FIVE MONTHS OUT OF THE YEAR, THEN IT'S SUNSHINE, WARM HUMIDITY, TOURISTS, TOURISTS, AND MORE TOURISTS. (i'm 30 minutes from Myrtle Beach, S.C)
DONNA, SFY
Growing up in Miami made hurricanes almost like big thunderstorms. Here we go again. But the one thing i remember most was Hurricane parties. I would ask my mom if I could sleep over at my best friend's house.
I think we put mattresses in front of the windows- jalousie type windows then.
Filled the tub with watr
had sterno on hand
and god forbid if you ate the last can of tuna
from there it was a waiting game especially after the eye passed over the the storm started all over again...
Hey Donna!!
I'm going to be leaving the quiet South Texas coastline and heading to the North Carolina/Virginia area so I'll be joining you in all those preps soon. UGH.... Can we say I am NOT looking forward to this??? LOL Oh well...it's not like I haven't evacuated before. We always leave when one is heading our way. The Navy insists. It can be a pain at times, but then again I don't really want to ride out a storm...
