ME, AN INSPIRATION ?

I was at work yesterday (so what else is new) going about my business when one of the young girls (i say young because anyone under the age of 30 is young to me )from nutrional services stoped me. She told me she had been watching my weight loss progress and told me I'm an inspiration to her. Me ? an inspiration? I don't think so, I thanked her, but laughed. I don't see myself as an inspiration to anyone. I felt very uncomfortable, I don't take compliments comfortably, I love giving them but cringe when getting them. I had this surgery for my health, an attempt to prolong my life and enjoy it to the fullest. But if my progess in this journey can help someone else to achieve a healthier life style I'll help in any way I can. She asked so many questions and seem so interested, although, by looking at her I can see she's not a candidate for our drastict surgery, she just needs direction on food consumption and the right choices. So, I'm going to sit down and write a list of all things on my menu for her. I'm proud of who I am and what I've accomplished so far in this strange and wonderful journey. More than that, I'm glad my mother got to see the changes in my appearance and my health before she died. She was so proud that I went through with the surgery. I was going to cancel my surgery because she had just been diagnosed w/ cancer just before my surgery date. Mom talked me out of canceling and now I'm glad, it gave me time home w/ her (6 weeks ) during the hardest time of her treatment. So, get out there and inspire someone, you never know who's watching and waiting to ask you questions. Don't be afraid or ashamed to admit you had weight loss surgery, offer your assistance and knowledge to someone in crisis as we all were at one time or other in our lives. I'm so proud of everyone of you and your accomplishments. Just think back to a year ago to what we were and how we acted and look how far we've come and how much more we have to go and achieve. Donna I had someone (YOUNGER THAN ME!) say the same thing to me a little while back; and at first, I was like, me, why??? what have I done? Then she explained.... she said to have the courage to do what I did, and the drive and determination to do this, was inspiring. ANd, you know what, she's right - to take that first step in pursuing surgery, was a life-altering, life-threatening decision; I'm so proud of myself for doing it; as we all should be. People have NO IDEA at what everyday life is like for us; they just see us losing weight, and think, wow, it's easy. They'd have to walk a day in our shoes to come a tiny bit close to what life is really like. It's not easy; yes, the rewards - GRAND! Feeling good, looking good, buying new clothes - LIVING life again, and the fact that we've added years to our lifespan; but with all that, comes a price; to us, just every day life. Each and every one of us are an inspiration to me. I say thank you to everyone on this board who is helping me along the way, just by being my weight-loss sisters; where else could I learn from and turn to for guidance, who else would know better and understand? So, thank you DOnna, YOU ARE AN INSPIRATION!!!!!
