How much food is everyone eating?
Hi Julie,
Starting about 1/2 way through my 6th month I noticed that all of a sudden I was eating a LOT LOT LOT more.
I can finish a lean cuisine no problem. Other than that a standard portion size is typical 3/4 of a cup or 5-6 oz total.
I have had to adjust what I eat to accomodate the increased portion size. Before, I didn'****ch much what I was eating as long as I kept to the protein first, then veggies, THEN if there was still room, carb rule. If I did that I found that no matter what I was eating, I was not eating enough to make a difference in my weight loss.
Now I have to really watch what goes in my mouth. I've been measuring my meat to 3oz per serving MAX, then supplementing the extra room with veggies. I have had to really watch the carb monster to make sure he doesn't take hold of me. This way - I may still be eating an increased portion size but I'm not sabotaging my weightloss.
Oh yeah, I've been having to fight "grazing" urges as well a lot more lately too.
I am eating like a normal person.
This is the first time in my life I have done that. Before surgery I ate like a fat person (I was one). After surgery I ate like a post-op...until now. Now I eat a single serving of meat and a couple of servings of vegetables at meal time. It's all about portion control. I feel like I'm eating a lot. But compared to how I ate before surgery, this is nothing.
My DH remarked that I was eating a lot. I told him that I have learned to spread my food out to make it look like a lot, I rarely finish everything on my plate, and I am still losing weight. My way of telling him to shut his pie hole.

I struggle to eat. If given the chance I wouldn't eat at all. I have no appetite and almost never am hungry. I have to schedule meals or I would miss them. As for portion sizes, yes my portions are larger then they were when I first has surgery but only with certain things. I can barely get through 2 oz of any kind of meat but can eat a lot of veggies both raw and cooked.
Glad to see you on the board, hope to see you posting more often.

I am with Felicia. I would be happy to not eat all day. When I do eat or get the urge to actually eat then I do eat more than I used to. I can do @ 3 oz of meat at a time with maybe 1/4 cup veggies. Have to be careful with the carbs and they will go down in numbers as they go right down stay small and you can really pack them in. I have learned that with hubby too. SO I "try" to stay away from them. Have slipped the last week or so with it but now it is keeping me from my next goal so out the window they have gone completely. I still do my shakes and the protein bullets. Without those I would never get enough protein in. I think at this stage though it is normal to be eating more. Like someone else said look at it towards what you used to eat. I am so happy we will never be back there again.

I am eating a lot these days, but calorie wise, it is not too terrible, and I get in a minimum of 75 g protein daily.
today's food intake and plan for rest of day: Protein shake-- 140 calories, 16 g protein
Kashi go lean crunch--eaten dry-- 1 c, 190 cal, 9 g protein
protein bar-- 210 calories, 20 g protein
soup-- 150 cal, 3 g protein, banana-- 90 cal, 0 protein
sf jello-- 10 cal, 0 protein, sugar free pudding cup-- 80 calories, 2 g protein
south beach entree 240 calories, 28 g protein.
total protein: 78 g
total calories: 1110 calories]
of course, I'm stalled too, so I'm not the one to be giving advice.
Hi Julie!!
Well....at first I was eating a lot more...sort of like everyone else said....a Lean Cuisine or 2-3 oz meat and veggies then carbs....
But with all the stress I've been dealing with lately, I'm barely remembering to eat. Grazing is becoming a problem that I'm having to deal with. I still do the protein drinks, bars, etc. Otherwise I wouldn't be getting in my protein requirements for the day.
