Anemic

So, surgeon says I'm anemic, my iron level was an 8 (whatever that means!). So they have me on 2 iron pills a day. What exactly does being anemic mean? I never quite fully understood. What kind of damage can it cause? Why do we become anemic? I know I did all my homework before surgery, but just can't get a grasp on this one, so if any of you can shed any light, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

Wow sorry to hear this. I hear this is pretty common though. Its basically that you are producing a low number of red blood cells and the ability for your cells to carry oxygen is decreased. It makes you feel tired really easy. Hope the 2 pills a day helps you out!! Keep us posted on how you are ok!! *huggles* Felicia =0)
