My 6-month checkup visit with Dr. Shina
Hi Everyone! I had my six month checkup visit yesterday and Dr. Shina said that I am doing great and to keep up the good work. The only thing that did concern me is that some type of level was elevated a bit and he is going to do further blood testing to see if I might need to have my gall bladder taken out. He said it would be laproscopic.... Has anyone else had to have theirs out since their surgery and if so, is it outpatient? I was just wondering because I really don't have much sick leave saved up from work. Thanks in advance for your help!!

Hi Kathy!
I'm the Jenn, Felicia was talking about.
The surgery was sooooooo much easier than the RNY. Mine was laproscopic. The doctor was able to use two of my RNY incisions but had to make two new ones because the position of the old ones had changed (they are much lower now). The incisions healed much faster than with the last surgery (within a week).
I took a week off of work because my job is very physical with lots of lifting. I had surgery on Friday and went work on Sunday for a couple of hours to do computer work. Depending on your job, you may be able to go back before a week.
Keep in mind however, this is still major surgery so it will take a bit to get your stamina back. (I had a hard time with this because I thought I would just be able to get up and run laps, LOL.) I'm just 3 weeks out and am feeling great.
I wish you the best of luck with your possible surgery.
Jenn
