HI EVERYONE, SORRY IT'S TAKEN SO LONG TO GET BACK TO EVERYONE. IT'S BEEN A HEART WRENCHING TERRIBLE WEEK. AS I SAID EARLIER, I CALL MOM EVERY DAY FROM WORK. WELL, AS NORMAL, I CALLED HER ON WED. AT 10am, NO ANSWER. THOUGHT SHE MIGHT BE IN THE BATHROOM, LEFT A MESSAGE. CALLED AT 1030am, NO ANSWER, CAN YOU SAY NERVOUS? CALLED AT 11am, PANIC IS STARTING TO SET IN. WENT OUT TO POST PARTUM AND SOME ONE SAID SOMETHING AND I JUST STARTED CRYING. ONE OF THE PHARMACISTS WAS THERE, HE CALLED IS WIFE WHO WORKS ABOUT 4 BLOCKS AWAY FROM OUR HOUSE. SHE WENT OVER, LOOKED IN ALL THE WINDOWS, TRIED THE DOORS, RANG THE BELL, NO LUCK. I HAD LEFT ONE OF MOM'S BEDROOM WINDOWS OPEN SO SHE STARTING CALLING "ALICE" THRU THE WINDOW. ALL SHE COULD HEAR WAS " I CAN'T, I CAN'T." CAN YOU SAY HYSTERICAL? THAT'S ME, THE CALM, COLLECTED NEONATAL NURSE. CALLED MY SISTER MARGARET, SHE WORKS 15 min AWAY AS OPPOSED TO MY 35-40 min. MARGARET GOT HOME AT ABOUT 1220, SHE AND WENDY WENT INTO THE HOUSE AND FOUND MOM SITTING ON THE TOILET, SHE HAD BEEN SITTING THERE SINCE 8am. THEY MANAGED TO GET MOM OFF THE TOILET AND WALK HER ALMOST ALL THE WAY TO THE BED THEN MOM FEEL TO HER KNEES. SHE CRAWLED THE REST OF THE WAY TO HER BED. (I CRY EVERYTIME I THINK ABOUT THAT) SPOKE W/ ONE OF THE SPECIALISTS AT THE HOSP. "GET HER IN HERE NOW, EITHER BY CAR OR EMS" MARG TRIED TO GET HER IN THE CAR, NO LUCK. CALLED 911. THEY LOAD HER UP, THE TRANSMISSION DIES. WAIT FOR ANOTHER RIG. MOM FINALLY ARRIVES AT THE HOSP AROUND 4pm. YES, I SAID 4pm. WELL, TO MAKE A LONG STORY SHORT AND NOT BORE YOU ANYMORE THAN I HAVE, THE PROGNOSIS IS NOT GOOD. DR. SAYS THE LUNG CANCER HAS METASTASIZED TO THE LYMPH NODES UP AND DOWN HER STERNUM (BREAST BONE) AND INTO HER BONES. HE GIVES HER 4-6 MONTHS. NOT WHAT WE WANTED TO HEAR. ON TOP OF THAT SHE HAS PNEUMONIA. STILL NOT EATING BUT DRINKING SMALL AMTS. HAS AN IV GOING. YESTERDAY WE ALL SPOKE ABOUT WHAT TO DO. WE; MOM, DR. MARG AND I AGREED TO PUT HER IN REHAB, TRY TO BUILD UP HER STRENGTH THEN COME HOME W/ HOSPICE. TONIGHT, MOM'S COMPLAINING OF ALOT OF PAIN AND SHE SAYS TO ME " I WANT TO GO HOME." " JUST TAKE ME HOME." THE TEARS ARE FLOWING AND HAVEN'T STOPED YET. ONLY GOD KNOWS WHAT PLANS HE HAS FOR HER AND I'LL ABIDE BY THOSE PLANS. THE PRIEST CAME IN TODAY AND GAVE HER THE SACRAMENT OF THE SICK. SO I HAVE PEACE IN MY HEART THAT GOD HAS FORGIVEN HER SINS ( NONE, AS FAR AS I'M CONCERNED.) AND SHE'LL BE GOING TO HEAVEN W/ MY FATHER. THANKS FOR LETTING ME RAMBLE. IF YOUR PARENTS ARE STILL IN YOUR LIVES PLEASE TELL THEM YOU LOVE THEM BEFORE YOU DON'T GET THE CHANCE. DONNA

Donna, My heart goes out to you right now. I am so sorry that your mom is having to go through all of this and with the pain, and I am sorry that you are having to watch her go through this. I will continue to keep you in my thoughts and prayers. God is in control and He will do what is best for your mom. Sometimes, it is not what we think is the best thing. I know this has to be a very hard time for you, as I know it will be for me when my mom gets worse, as my husband will when his mom gets worse (she had a stroke a couple of weeks ago, and my mom is in renal failure). Just know that I am thinking about your mom and will be praying for her as well as you and your sister. God bless you all, Love and hugs, Sherry

Oh no, Donna...I'm so sorry to hear this. I was hoping that something else was causing the fatigue. What a scary ordeal that your mother went through. My heart goes out to you and your mom. I hope they can give her something for the pain and that the time she has left she is comfortable. I'm just so sorry for you guys. Please know we are here for you. Hugs, Tabby

Donna, Hon, now I know why you've been on my mind and heart the past few days. No words can express what I feel for you right now - just as no words will take away the pain you are feeling. I hope you know how much we all care and are here for you whenever you need to talk. Take care of yourself. Take care of your Mom. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Susan

donna, my heart breaks for you... my mom passed away from breast cancer 9 years... it seems like all her struggles were just yesterday. there is nothing worse than seeing your mommy suffer. i will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers. i hope that she will able to return home soon, as it sounds that is where her heart is. I pray that God will give you the strength you need to be there for your mom and wrap you in His love and peace. debbie
