Musings on my 6 month Surgiversary
I just made my 6 month post to my profile. Check it out if you wi**** is a bit long for here......
Here is my progress:
Highest Pre-surgery weight: 253 (BMI 47.8)
Before Liquid Diet: 234 (BMI 44.2)
Day of Surgery: 223 (BMI 42.1)
Today: 178 (BMI 33.6)
Lost since actual surgery: 45 pounds
Lost since before liquid diet: 55 pounds
Lost since highest ever: 75 pounds
Remaining needed to lose to reach personal goal: 53
Although I am a "slow loser" and only seem to lose 2-4 pounds per month, the doctor said that I am doing most everything right (need more exercise....) and not to worry, it will come off.
I have no choice but to trust him about this.....in for a penny, in for a pound, as they say.
I have been having some horrible migraine caliber headaches, and he says that they are related to the raging hormones that the surgery can cause and to see my PCP. Luckily, I have an appointment with her on Monday. I have had this last headace since Monday, and I can now understand how people in constant pain can do crazy things. I have managed to keep it at bay the last 2 days with strict doses of Tylenol every 4 hours, but I will be glad when the PCP can give me something better.
I hope everyone has a nice weekend!
Dawn
Hi Dawn!
Congrats on the good 6 month visit with your surgeon. It's always nice to get those good check-ups, isn't it??
I have to say, I agree with Judy about the headaches. I know if I don't get enough water, I end up with a horrible headache. Are you getting in your 64oz MINIMUM a day? Now that the weather is warmer here in South Texas, I have to get in 80 oz a day to feel really good. Haven't done that lately (only been getting 64) and I can really tell the difference. Of course, we could be totally wrong and it could be other things, but it never hurts to try and see.
Hope you feel better soon!
Susan
Thank you so much for the support.
Water can not be the issue.....I get between 80 and 100 oz every day. I have always been one to have a water bottle with me, so I just sip, sip, sip all day long (except for the hour-hour and a half after eating). My protein is good too, as I get about 58 grams from shakes and more from food.
I have always been a "headache person", and while pregnant, they were especially terrible. I went to a neurologist at that time who told me the same as my surgeon said the other day: "Some people get lucky and the headaches get better with the hormone surge, and some get them worse." Of course, I have to one of those that they are worse for.
I am feeling great today, no pain at all. (Of course I do, I have an appointment with my PCP today.) Last week, I had the headache for 5-6 days. I'm sure that she will be able to give me something.
But thanks again for all of your help and support!
Dawn
