Endocrinologist Appointment

I saw the Endocrinologist this morning. The appointment ent well. He has determined that the tumor on my adrenal gland is benign still. He also said that the 3 nodules on my thyroid are small enough to leave alone at this point. They are under 1.5 centimeters which is where the recommendations for biopsies are started. I will go back for a follow-up in 6 months. He also wants me to take additinal Vitamin D. He wants 400 units a day. The only size I could find was for 1000 units. I hope that this won't be too much. He also wants me to limit oxalates in my diet which can add to kidney stones since I already have kidney disease. He gave me a list of food items I should avoid. I'm a little confused, because I am not really eating those foods. The only ne there I saw seemed to be the protein shakes. I'll need to contact him to ask about that. Of course, he pushed more water daily. He also wants me to keep walking. So- all in all I think the appointment went well. I feel relieved.

HEY AIME, GLAD TO HEAR YOUR APPT. W/ THE ENDO WENT WELL AND NO NEED TO REMOVE THE NODULES AS OF NOW. YOUR PROBLEM W/ THE VIT-D IS REALLY NO PROBLEM AT ALL. JUST GET YOURSELF A PILL CUTTER AND CUT IT IN HALF, THUS 300mg INSTEAD OF 1000mg. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK AND KEEP US POSTED. DONNA, SFY

Hi Aime!! Glad to see your endo appt went well. WHEW!! Thank goodness you don't have to have anything done with those nodules right now. I hope they stay under the 1.5 cms for you!! Susan

hi aime, good to hear that your appt. went well and that the tumer is still benign and the nodules don't need to be biopsied as yet. is the vitamin d a tablet? how about just taking 1/2 each day? i split one of my husband's pills for him... it's a breeze with a pill splitter. i just go ahead and split the whole bottle when i get them and get it over with. i am assuming that the problem with the protein shakes is the concentration of protein. when you ask him ablut that, i would love to know what he says. he may just want you to have less protein in each serving. push tha****er, and keep on losing!! fondly, patricia

Oh, Aime, that is great news. Sounds like your appt went well and that it put your mind at ease. I have taken Vitamin D, daily, since my surgery. It is on my list of Vitamins. I'm sure that the 1000 units will be fine. Hope you are still able to drink your protein shakes. I know I rely on them to get in enough protein. I am actually enjoying them these days. I ordered some SF Chai Flavored DaVinci Syrup and man it is yummy. Makes my shake more of a treat. Anyways...don't know why I had to tell you all of that...especially if you got orders from your endo to avoid the shakes...LOL. Congrats on the good appt. Hugs, Tabby
