Update on me - also 6 month visit
Good morning October Babies!!
I had my 6 month post op visit yesterday. All labs but one were good. He mentioned that I need to see my PCM to have my thyroid checked as my levels are showing decreased thyroid function. Hopefully it's nothing to worry about. But, if it is, we caught it early. I have an appt scheduled for next week (first available for non-emergent issues) so I will find out more then. Otherwise all was good. All other levels were fantastic and he was very pleased with my progress. Told me he doesn't need to see me till I'm a year out. He was sad when I told him I am moving to VA and won't be here then. I will miss my doc. He's the GREATEST!
Cool news. I went to the Base Exchange yesterday while I was in San Antonio to LOOK at laptops and planned to buy an MP3 player for my hubby to take on deployment. I didn't like their MP3 players, so I didn't buy one. BUT, they had an awesome deal on a Toshiba laptop. Can we say "Happy Mother's Day" early??? Have to get a wireless router for it today or tomorrow. I'm thinking TODAY. I'm so excited about it and my kids are all bummed. They are not allowed to touch it! I told them they have the desktop computer to play on, the laptop is MOMS & DADS ONLY! They dropped and broke my Nintendo DS this weekend. Do they REALLY think I'm going to trust them with my laptop????
Okay.....got to get going on the house. The hubby and kids destroyed it yesterday while I was gone. What's funny is, they THINK they cleaned it before I got home. If this is "clean" I shudder to think of how it looked before they did anything! YIKES!!
Must buy paint and supplies. But, I may wait until tomorrow. I have an appt with my NUT tomorrow, so I'm thinking a visit to the home improvement stores while I'm in CC is a good idea. I can get the paint I need, the edging for the flower beds, the soil I need (we have nasty clay here that kills everything but grass and weeds) and maybe even some flowers. Thank goodness for stow and go seating! The back of the van is going to be FULL!!
Sorry I haven't been doing the QOTD lately. Life has been getting in the way. I will try to do better and post some, but if anyone wants to take that over for a while as I'm working on the house, I'd really appreciate it!!
Have a great day everyone!!!!
Susan
Wow, this post turned out to be a novel....sorry!!
susan,
i am happy to see that your 6 month visit went so well. you are doing great and should be very proud.
congrats on the new laptop. you will love it. i even take mine out back or on the front porch on nice days. wireless is wonderful.
when and where will your hubby be deployed? and, will he be effected by the news from the pentagon that they may be extending deployments by an additional three months? ugh, i hope not. i forget if you've mentioned what branch of the service he is in, but i am guessing army... am i right?
enjoy your day shopping tomorrow. we can't plant here in the northeast until after mother's day, so i have a while to wait. my landscapers are here today though starting my spring clean-up and redefining all of the beds to get ready to mulch them all. i need to get some grass seed down on the lawn soon where the pups trampled too much in the wet weather. ahh, the joy of owning two dogs. or should i say one dog and one lion, as we are convinced that lilah is at least half lion.
if i thought i could be clever enough to write the qotd, i would help you out, but i don't think i am. i'll give it some thought though, and if i come up with anything i will post.
i'm still hoping to hear that you were able to get in touch with deanne, although i know that you are really busy with the house and the family. i miss seeing and reading your posts. i will try to catch you on yahoo messenger one day or evening to say hello.
i hope the boys are feeling well, and the spring allergens aren't getting too them and their asthma too much.
talk to you soon,
patricia
Hey Patricia!
I'm missing being here. Stopping in for a bit this AM before I go see my NUT for some help with my snacking. I am starving at night and in need of some guidance as I have not been making good choices.
Hubby is Navy - and thankfully, those extensions will not affect him. The kids are doing fine, so far. I hope that continues. By this time of year, though they do have some allergy problems, it usually doesn't kick in their asthma. Thank goodness!
Hope to chat with you again soon. Hope your headache is better this morning. And, you are right. I LOVE my laptop and being able to sit anywhere. Like the sofa last night. It was so fun when I figured out how to get the web cam going. Too bad you didn't have one too so I could see you too.
Susan
Hey susan,
glad to hear you had great lab results for the most part. Hopefully the thyroid level can get straighten out w/o much problems.
A new lap top? How exciting, I've had this one for over 5 years and is starting to slow down dispite defraging and deleating unused programs. Does the new puter have wireless capability? Never mind, reread your post and saw you're getting a router. Have I told you lately that I'm getting absent minded due to advanced age? No, well I am.
What part of virginia are you moving to? As you know I live in north carolina and virgina is only a couple of hours away. In fact richmond, va. Is where I drove to pick up my cat from the breeder. It'd be great to get to meet you in person some day.
Good luck w/ sprucing up the house and yard. Hope the house gets sold quickly.
Donna, sfy
ps: love novels
Hi Donna!!
I can't wait to get out to VA and meet some people. That was one of the things I told hubby when he told me what our next orders are! We will be in the Norfolk area. I'm hoping to find a house in Chesapeake that we can actually afford. Wish me luck. I was doing some early looking last night and found some gorgeous houses - but they were all WAY out of our price range. Oh well..... If I went back to work we could consider some of them, but as I am planning to go back to school for another dang degree (thinking nursing - long story on why) so work is not in my future for a while yet.
Thanks for the wishes on the house. I am going to need it. Can't wait to get going on the outside before it gets too hot to work out there. It's amazing how fast it goes from being too chilly to be outside to too hot to be out there. South Texas has great winters usually, but the rest of the year can be miserable!
Glad you like novels, because it seems that's what I always end up writing. LOL
Susan
Depending on traffic (and the number of stops) I can make the drive down there in 5 -6 hours. I am usually down in the Outerbanks every other year or so (my favorite vacation spot).....you'll be right on the way.
And...are we still all thinking of meeting somewhere in that general area (Virginia Beach-ish) in October?
Dear Susan:
I am glad to hear that your 6 month visit went basically well. Hopefully, the thyroid thing is nothing.
It is a lot of work to get a house ready for sale. I had to laugh when I read your comment about them "thinking" that they had cleaned. It is the same at my house. While I was here at work last Friday, they cleaned at home, and I had to be very grateful, even though they did not do it how I would have. If I complain too much, they will not do anything.
I would take over the quote, but I can not depend on getting on the site each day.
Good luck with your house!
Dawn
Hey Dawn!!
I hear you on the being grateful part. I thanked them all for their hard work - but in my mind I was thinking "You think THIS is clean? Then WHAT did it look like before????" And, it's the same here, if I say something about it, then next time, I get NO help at all. So, I take what I can get and smile.
I hope you are right about the thyroid thing. I am sort of nervous about the whole thing. Trying to not stress about it till I talk to my doc though...
As for the qotd, go for it. Even if it's not daily. I haven't done it at all this week....and feel so bad about that! But, I just have too much going on to try and think about them right now. Maybe soon I can get back to it.
Susan
