good monday morning girls...
first off, i hope all of you had a wonderful easter celebration... i think i'm the only one on here that is jewish, but just in case someone is lurking, i hope your passover sedar was spent with loved ones. i know our's certainly was.
i last posted after the thursday phillies game with the girls, if you haven't checked out my new pics yet, please take a look. we had an awesome time.
then friday was the calm before the storm...
saturday at about noon, my son was driving home from visiting friends in pa, when he called and said his car was smoking. i told him to call roadside assistance, and he said he wasn't going back near the car, he thought it might blow up. well, i thought when he said "smoking" that he meant a puff or two out the exhaust, or steam from the engine. he says to me, "no mom, it is billowing black smoke from the engine." so i told him to call 911. well, long story short, after two firetrucks put out the fire, i arrived in time to see them shovel it off of the road. it is totaled, and of course, it was just last week that i recieved the title in the mail as we had finally made that last payment! ugh, however, it was just a car, and thank god that my son was not hurt. the engine seized right in the middle of the road, he had no brakes or steering, he stopped it with the emergency break and got the heck out of it. he was very upset of course, mostly because of the loss of his "baby", his first car that he got when he was 17. it was a 2002 toyota solara. he also has been practically living out of his car, and had a lot of his possesions in it, ipod, school text books, golf clubs, ets. luckily the golf clubs and his portfolio for his water color class were in the trunk and not damamged. the fireman said that a rock or something put a hole in the engine block and that his oil all spilled out, probably over the ben franklin bridge that he just barely made it over, and a car can't go even 5 minutes when it has lost all of the oil. so it was towed away, and we went to my husband's work, which happens to be a toyota agency, and picked out another car. we just have to wait to hear from the insurance company today. he needs a car asap, because he is not permitted to drive either mine or my husband's as they are both company cars owned by toyota. so until he has another one, i am his chauffer.
other than that excitement, my scale is finally moving again. i am on my gazelle twice a day, and really tracking my protein.
i hope you all have a wonderful day and week.
fondly,
patricia
Mercy Patricia!!
I'm so sorry to hear about your sons car problems! Thank goodness he was able to get to the side of the road and call for help. WHEW!! I'm so thankful he's okay. Cars can be replaced, people can't. I know he's upset - and understandably so - but this too shall pass. Good luck with the insurance! I hope they come thru for you guys quickly and he can get a new "baby".
