Weight loss update everyone, please respond
Hi, Just wanting to see how I am doing compared to everyone else with this lap band. I am feeling so down on myself these days.
I am a cash pay patient and I am still too tight with my fill. I am at 8 cc's in my 10 cc band. I am PBing several times a day. I can only get down soft foods, and my weight loss has suffered because sometimes out of frustration I eat the wrong jun**** cream, chocolates, etc. I know I am sabotaging myself but I can't eat without pain and it is ridiculous. I can't afford to keep getting fills all the time. I guess I need to get one more and bring me back down to 7.4 cc's. I may have not felt full, but at least I could eat without pain and PB's.
So far I am down about 48.5 lbs.
How is your weight loss going?
Patti
Patti,
It sounds like you are having a hard time with this. I had the RNY so the situation is somewhat different. Still, it is a huge life change for me too.
We all have different living arrangements so my suggestions may not work for you. I do NOT allow any junk foods in my house because the temptation would be my downfall. If my hubby wants to snack he can have a SF popsicle or SF Jello too. Occassionally he wants other goodies, which he keeps in his office at home. That's fine as long as I don't have to look at them. When the grand's come to visit, they know they can eat my treats or go to Grandpa's office for his goodies. This has worked in my house.
As for your pain --- you need to get in touch with a doctor. Maybe you could check out the OH Lap Band site for additional comments too.
My starting weight (6/06) was 320 pounds. The surgeon wouldn't accept me until I lost at least 10 pounds. I lost that , and stuck to the diet plan until surgery.
Day of surgery 10/31/06 - 267 pounds
Today - 188 pounds
I am a slow loser but it is working for me and I feel fantastic. Please find a doctor to help you.
Thanks Annette for the response. I think I need daily reinforcement from these boards. I generally stick to the lap band surgery forum, but wanted to see how others have done with a similar surgery date.
It helps me just reading peoples posts, I get encouraged and try a little harder. I am going through some tough stuff these days. I had to quit taking my prozac because I am so tight I can't swallow pills without a bit of trouble. I thought I was doing fine, but I feel sad, and depressed much of the time, so I may have to get back on my meds.
I will call my doctor soon.
Thanks,
Patti
Hi, Patti. I'm so sorry to hear that you are having such a hard time with your lap-band surgery. I had the Lap-RNY surgery and don't really know much about the lap-band. It has to be hard to only be able to eat soft foods, but you ARE sabotaging yourself by eating ice cream and chocolate. You know that and don't need me to tell you that.
That sucks that you are a cash-pay pt and have to pay for each fill. I know that the wl with the lap-band is slower, so it isn't right to compare them. I started at 282 and am now down to 184. I have been doing great with my foods...except this weekend. Damn Easter Bunny. I didn't have much chocolate yesterday, and won't have it today, but I had more than I have since my surgery. Today is a new day.
Are you drinking protein shakes? I do a protein shake a day. I also snack on higher protein snacks when I am hungry. Instead of ice cream, have SF chocolate pudding. Pay more attention to what is going in your mouth and maybe the weight will start coming off faster. Get in all your water + and that might help.
I hope you can find some relief soon and get your band straightened out and get out of the surgery what you want to. It's still not too late. I also agree that you need to check out the Lap-Band board to see how their weight loss is. They may have some tips for you on what you can do. Sorry I am not much help.
Hang in there.
Hugs,
Tabby
hey patti,
this board is for anyone that had surgery in october. you are always welcome here. you will find lots of info and support.
i also had rny, but my loss has been slow. i was 296 at consult, 284 at surgery, and today i am 230. so i have only lost 54 lbs. since surgery and 66 lbs. total. i have had some other unrelated health issues though that have kept me from a good excercise plan.
keep up the good work.
patricia
No, Patti, the board *IS* for anyone who has had WLS in October 2006. I believe a majority of us have had RNY, but it is for anyone from OCT. Feel free to join us and post when you can. It is a great place for support and a kick in the butt when we need it. LOL. I know I need it today. I was bad for Easter yesterday. Not *BAD* like before surgery bad, but *BAD* for being 2 lbs away from my 6 mos goal by Thursday. URGH!!! I need to go exercise today and I am sitting here on my laptop. SOMEONE...KICK MY BUTT!!!
I like coming here daily to get support and encouragement. Hope you stick around.
Hugs,

(delivering a swift kick to your posterior region).
Tabby,
Don't feel bad. Our "binges" are so controled now. If you were like me, you would have been able to consume a whole bag of Easter candy in 1 day before. Now you only had a few pieces here and there throughout the day. Moderation!! I slacked majorly yesterday too. The Boy's family is not used to my lifestyle - nor do they fully understand it. They do not typically ask if you want dessert, they just serve it up and pass it around. The past holidays I jsut let it sit and they wrapped it up at the end, but this time, I was not so good. Mmmm lemon square, mmmmm, ice cream. Only 3 -4 bites of each, but enough that I was expecting to at least feel a little sick...I was thinking "please God, let this make me deathly ill so that I will never do it again." Unfortunately it didn't effect me at all
So, I guess I need all of you to keep me on track too! Feel free to kick away.
Looking to compare your weight loss with others will only increase your frustrations and sadness. I think you hit the nail on the head when you said you have been eating the wrong things. I like others on the forum do not keep any bad foods in my home. One, I can't afford to purchase unhealthy foods along with my healthy foods. Two, No one that resides in my home needs to eat that junk either.
Initally, there was some grumbling about sugar free and other healthy foods in the house. Now, the others are remarking on how much better they are felling not eating all of the junk we used to keep around.
So- when asked what I have to drink in the house, my response is water, water, or maybe some water. Coffee too, of course
Best of luck on getting back on track. Welcome to the forum. We are travelling this journey together and having the support of others who had surgery at the same time really is great.
Aime
