Okay, most of you know that I work the night shift. I work 12 hours. I get off at 7 am and usually get home about 8 am, depending on traffic. I try to be in bed before 9. I am up around 3-4 pm. I have to leave my house at 6 to be back at work at 7 pm. When is the best time for me to exercise on the days I work, before going to bed or when I get up before going to work? Sundays and Wednesdays are really messed up because my routine is changing back over one way or the other. This also is messed up with eating and taking vit/min. I am sure that working nights is keeping my weight loss down, so I have to figure out how to make this work. No chance of day time position anytime soon. Could sure use some prayers on that one girls! Anyway, any tips or advice would be helpful! Thanks! Love yall, Sherry

Its my understanding there is no "wrong" time to work out. Only thing I have ever heard about it is that you wouldn't want to do it right before bed time as it will keep you up. Other then that I have heard "Just Do It" lol. Also there is a huge new push to do 10min intervals 3 times a day as an equal work out to 30mins straight so on off days you could squeeze in 10 mins here and 10 mins there. Don't know if that helped! Felicia =0)

HEY SHERRY, THERE'S NEVER A BAD TIME TO EXERCISE. I DON'T KNOW WHAT KIND OF WORK YOU DO BUT I ALSO WORK 12hr SHIFTS, 7a - 7p. I'M A NEONATAL NURSE AND THIS MAY SOUND STUPID BUT WHEN I GET A FEW FREE MINUTES, I CAN BE FOUND DOING A FEW JUMPING JACKS, DEEP KNEE BENDS, SIDE TO SIDE TWISTS, YOU GET THE PIRCTURE. EARLY CHILDHOOD SCHOOL WORKOUTS. THE REST OF THE STAFF HAVE GOTTEN USED TO MY CRAZY WAYS SO SOMETIMES THEY'LL JOIN IN. I'VE EVEN HAD A DOCTOR OR TWO JOIN. IF THERE'S STAIRS START OUT GOING DOWN THEM, IN A WEEK OR TWO TRY TAKING THEM UP, EVEN IF YOU ONLY MAKE THE FIRST FLIGHT AND TAKE THE ELEVATOR THE REST OF THE WAY IT'S A START. WITH YOU VITS/MIN, AGAIN I DON'T KNOW HOW MANY YOU TAKE. I PERSONALLY TAKE 4 VISTA VITAMINS AND 1 SUBLINGUAL B-12 DAILY. BEFORE I LEAVE THE HOUSE IN THE MORNING I TAKE TWO VITS AND THE B-12, THIS ALSO STARTS THE FLUID INTAKE. I PREFILL A 16.9oz BOTTLE W/ WALMART'S FORM OF CRYSTAL LIGHT. I'LL FINISH THAT BOTTLE ON THE WAY TO WORK THEN IN THE 12hrs I MANAGE TO FINISH OFF A 64oz BOTTLE OF FLUID, AGAIN THE WALMART'S BRAND OF CRYSTAL LIGHT. WHEN I GET HOME FROM WORK, LIKE YOU AROUND 8p I TAKE MY OTHER 2 VITS. NOW, THE VITAMIN PACKAGE SAYS TO TAKE A TOTAL OF 8 CAPS A DAY BUT I DON'T, AND HAVEN'T SINCE I STARTED ON THIS JOURNEY. AT MY LAST PCP VISIT ALL MY LABS WERE GREAT SO HE SAID NOT TO CHANGE ANYTHING I WAS DOING. PRAYERS GOING OUT TO HELP SECURE THAT DAYTIME POSITION.. SORRY THIS IS LONG, HOPE THIS IS OF SOME HELP. DONNA, SFY

Donna, I am a Med Lab Tech at a hospital also. I also take the Vista vits. I am having a hard time taking 4 at a time, so I think I will drop down to 2 twice a day. I think I can think of some things that I can do for 10 min. or so in between sample runs. Sometimes it is quiet at night and I could do some short walks up and down the hall. Thanks for the tips. It has given me some ideas that I haven't thought about. I knew I could count on my OCT06 board buddies!!! Hugs, Sherry

Hey Sherry! The one thought I had was....not before going to bed! I have tried exercising at night (just before bed) and it did NOT work for me. With all those endorphins racing around, I was ready to do marathon cleaning. Forget sleeping! So, if you can, before work would be a good time to do 30 minutes, if you can fit it into your schedule. I also liked the idea of 10 minutes 3 times a day as you are going about your work schedule. Donna had some great ideas about deep knee bends, etc. And, as you are a pharmacy tech, while those bottles are filling you could do a few of those, or side to side twists, etc. Any exercise you can fit in is going to benefit you! Hope you are able to make it work!! I have no doubts you can find a way!! And, will be praying about the job situation. Hopefully soon a day shift will come available for you. Susan

Hi, Sherry!!! I, too, work nights. I finish at 6:30am and get the kids up and ready for pre-K or daycare and then go to bed around 8:00am. This week I have to work in the office, so I will finish up work at 6:00am, drive an hour home, get the kids ready and then get to bed. I work on a helpdesk for a hospital. I do not exercise before I go to bed because I have enough trouble falling asleep and staying asleep, let alone if I exercise and get my energy up. I usually wake up around 2pm and then jump on the treadmill before I even eat anything. Just grab a glass of water and go. If I don't do it then, then I get my shower and don't want to do it because I am clean and don't want to get all sweaty. I also do the Leslie Sansone Walk Away the Pounds DVD's. I love that they only take a half hour and you are done. Hope you can get a daylight position that you like soon. Good Luck. Hugs, Tabby
