bruising??
hey girls,
is anyone else noticing a lot of bruises on their bodies? i was never one to easily bruise, but know i notice big bruises especially on my legs. they usually start out black and blue and then get a lovely purple and yellow tinge before they go away, which can take over a week. i got up today with another one, and i have no idea where they are coming from. i haven't been feeling very well, but that isn't that unusual for me with my back problems. i have an appt. with my pcp on monday for a headache that i have had now for a little over a week. on thursday morning, i spotted a little (i haven't had a period since the month before surgery... which i thought was ok, because i had gone 5 months without one before, and i am starting menopause). i have only spotted a tiny bit a few times since thursday, and i was hoping that it would be the end of my headache, as i used to get period headaches, but the headache is still here. it is dibilitating, and i am taking fiorocet nearly round the clock. i haven't been eating well, but i keep up with my protein with the liquid, and i take all of my required suppliments. some days i know i don't quite get in all of my fluids, but i know that i at least get 50 oz, so i don't think i could be dehydrated.
any input would be appreciated. i am a couple months overdue on my ob/gyn appt. i was waiting to have my mamo and dexiscan first and then make my appt., but i think i will take care of all of that next week as well.
thanks for listening...
patricia
I am so sorry you are feeling so yucky. I def do bruise more easily. My arms look all black and blue from all my testing and I get the bruises on my legs too. Have teased Fred telling him to stop kicking me at night.
I have no idea why it is but none of the docs seem to think it is anything to be worried about. Go figure. I hope they can get rid of the headache for you. That has to be a big bummer.
Fell better soon,
Melissa

PATRICIA,
SO SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT THE HEADACHES AND THE BRUISING. THE BRUISING SOUNDS AS IF YOU MIGHT BE ANEMIC. I'VE ACTUALLY HAVE LESS BRUISING NOW THAN I DID BEFORE WE STARTED THIN JOURNEY.
I DON'T KNOW WHAT KIND OF VITS YOU TAKE OR IF YOU'RE TAKING ANY OTHER KIND OF SUPPLIMENTS BUT I SWERE BY MY VISTA VITAMINS AND SUBLINGUAL B-12. I TAKE THEM RELIGOUSLY AND HAVE ACTUALLY SEEN A DECREASE IN BRUISING.
I DON'T TAKE EXTRA IRON AS THE VITS HAVE IT IN THEM BUT I DO EAT THINGS HIGH IN IRON SUCH AS SPINICH, RASINS (ADD TO CEREAL) etc . . .
HOPE THIS HELPS ALITTLE
DONNA, SFY

hi donna,
thanks for the info. i guess i could be anemic, i am exhausted all the time, and i did stop taking my iron suppliments~drs. orders, not on my own. he said i didn't need them if i was not getting my periods. i do take a pre-natal vitamin daily, and i'm sure that has iron. i also take 5 calcium citrates and a b12. i used to also take b6 and folic acid, but when i switched from chewable kids vitamins to the pre-natals, i was told to stop that. i am going to look into either the sublingual or the injections for the b12 though... i think that might be a problem contributing to my not having any energy or stamina. my appt. is tomorrow with my pcp, so hopefully i will have some answers. take care,
patricia
Hi Patricia!
Sorry to hear about the headache!! OUCHIE!! I hope you are able to get relief soon. You poor girl!! I have migraines every now and then (not as often now that I'm not stressed out from work, thank goodness) and can sympathise with what you are going thru to a minor extent. I'm glad you have an appt scheduled. Let's hope the doc can do something for you!
As for the bruising, I haven't had this problem at all - before or after surgery. But, my first thought was the same as Donna's -anemia. Have you had your labs checked recently? It wouldn't hurt, ya know?
Take care!!
Susan

hey susan,
thanks for the response. i have had my labs done, but i'm sure she will probably do them again tomorrow. i really don't have much stress, but i think the headaches cause me stress and then it's just a vicious circle. i'm anxious to see what my pcp says tomorrow.
i hope you had a nice weekend with the kids home... and a great monday when they go back to school, lol.
best,
patricia
Hee hee.....won't comment on the nice weekend part...but YES, I will enjoy them going back to school tomorrow.
They have worn me out this weekend...and the house is a complete wreck - AGAIN. I don't know how they do it. I clean all week long. I pick up all weekend...and the house is still a mess. Drives me CRAZY! I'm such a neat freak. Poor kids...
Hope things go well with your appt. Keep us posted on what happens! And, I hope you are feeling much better by now!!
Susan

thanks jenn,
the problem is, i am not more physically active because i feel so ****ty all of the time. i start a program, and then something else hits me. this headache is a doozy though, and i am hoping that i can get to the root of it soon.
i know my body will look even better when i can get on some sort of a regular exercise regimen.
fondly,
patricia
