Learned the hard way!!!!

Today I was working (my job keeps me hopping from store to store) so I went to McDonalds for lunch. I usually order the Chicken Fajitas, eat three quaters of one, throw the rest, of that one, away and keep the other for later. It has 7 grams of fat between the 2 fajitas. Today I felt brave. So I ordered a Junior Chicken sandwhich. It is a tiny little thing. So I thought if I thow away the biggest part of the bun I should be able to eat most of what is left. I asked for no mayo. You can see I was thinking. It was small and I ordered no mayo to reduce the fat. Well let's just say....I didn't not reduce the fat enough. I have officially learned what the "foamies" are. I have never experienced that before. I have also not had this much fat at one sitting before. After about 10-15 mins of the "foamies" I threw up. That was a good thing because it purged all the crap out of my screaming pouch. I have learned a valuable lesson. Never again will I eat anything deep fried from McDonalds!!!! It is the enemy. Live and Learn as they say, and boy have I learned.

Oh yeah...the foamies are public enemy #1 for use WLS people. I hate having them... I'd rather anyday! Sorry you had to go thru that. It's no fun to be sick anytime and is especially worse when you aren't home. Hope you are home now and able to lay down and rest. I know after I have this happen, I have to take a nap to recover. Take care of yourself. Susan

I am sorry to hear how your lunch affected you. I have never had the foamies (knock on wood) so I can only guess how awful you must have felt. I hope you were able to get home and relax after that yucky episode!

SO been there!! Are you sure it was the fat and not the bun? Bread hits me fast and BOOM foamies almost instantly after eating bread so I just don't do it anymore lolol. *HUGS* Never thought throwing up would be a good thing did ya! LOLOL Felicia

You know what, the bun never even crossed my mind. I can eat a 1/4 of a toasted bagel and I eat flat breads and crackers but I have never ventured down the bun lane before. Maybe that was it. I do know that if I have a little more fat then I should it will make me squamish. I won't be doing buns or regular bread. Thanks for the advice, Tara

I am the same way with bread....can't have it soft....but what's weird is, I can eat pasta. But, on the same token, I only eat a SMALL amount of pasta. I tend to concentrate more on the other food.....like the meat sauce if it's spaghetti, the chicken and veggies if it's a casserole, etc. Susan

I can do small amounts of pasta, as well. I won't be doing the un-toasted bread thing; again, for a long time. It is on my list with broccoli! Take care Tara

The reason for us reacting to soft bread as opposed to toast is that when the moisture is taken out of the bread(i.e. toast) we can digest it better. If we eat plain bread it will "gum" up in our bellies causing an unpleasant reaction. My nut. only wants me to eat toasted bread for this reason. She told me to stay away from anything that expands when put in water. Hope this helps Allison
