Uh Oh!
The virus still has it's grips on me, but, I'm feeling quite a bit better that way.
About five days ago, I started to feel some abdominal pain. It's dull, but constant on my right side just below my rib cage (I can actually feel my ribs!). Once in a while there is a sharp twinge. I was hoping it would go away.
It seems to be getting worse rather than better so I called the surgeon's office. I was instructed to have blood drawn immediately so I did. I'm scheduled for an ultrasound today and also with the physician's assistant. Of course, they think it's my gall bladder. I'm hoping it's not.
I'll be so mad if it is since I told them I had had problems in the past. The surgeon said he would check it when he did the RNY. He said at the time that it looked fine. I don't want another surgery but I do want the pain to go away.
Huge hugs,
Jenn
Aw, Jenn...that stinks. I hope it isn't your gallbladder, but then again I hope they can determine what it is quickly and get it resolved. I'm sorry that you are in pain. OUCH!!!
I'm sure that they would have checked it thoroughly before/during your surgery so that they could take care of both at the same time if there was an issue. I know that is one thing my doctor said he checked. No need for another surgery if it could have been taken care of at the time of your WLS.
I have been taking Actigall since my WLS to prevent gall stones. I have to take it for the first 6 mos post op. I'll be glad to eliminate two pills a day when that prescription is up.
Hope you get some answers soon.
Hugs,
Tabby
Hey jenn,
first congratulations on being able to feel your ribs. Isn't that a great feeling?
So sorry to hear that you're feeling rotten. If that nasty virus isn't bad enough you're now getting those right sided pains. Is does sound like the gallbladder to me.
Having had those same problems years ago I can only tell you that they'll only get worse instead of better till you have the gallbladder removed. Now a days it's done as an out pt. Procedure in most hospitals, not like when I had it done about twenty years ago, then you were in the hospital for almost a week.
Hope the ultrasound shows nothing major. Let us know what happens.
