5 month ambivalent report

This morning, the scale said 182, but yesterday, it said 181, and I usally count it on Monday. I didn't post yesterday because I was hoping for a smaller number!!!! Either way, that is only a 3 pund loss for the month. When looking at the scale that just SUCKS. BUT...............My stair climbing and walking must be doing SOMETHING as I had to buy new pants over the weekend and I sit here wearing a size........(drumroll please.....) 16!!!!!!! They are not even riding up my butt!!! I seriously can not remember the last time I wore a size 16 jeans/pants. I bought a couple junior size large tops and 1 (ladies) medium sweater (all at my favorite resale shop, of course). Oh......and I had to get new underwear (NOT resale.....lol).....the ones I had on were falling down. I did the big closet clean and got rid of 4 (tall kitchen) garbage bags full of clothes that are now too big. With such a minimum loss (and 1 pound gain?), it is really difficult not to think that I will be VERY sorry for getting rid of everything. In the past, this would be the time that the weight would start creeping (piling) back on. Well......I bit the bullet and actually GOT RID of them all. I didn't just move them to the garage or basement, they are really GONE!!!!! (I hope I will not regret it.........) I am just going to hope for the best, realizing (hoping that is the case with me) that muscle weighs more than fat and keep doing what I am doing. I have to concentrate on how much better I feel (and look), and how much more I can do. Hopefully, the scale will move accordingly. If not, it will take another 8-10 months to get to goal. That is really difficult when all my October buddies are getting closer so much quicker. Oh well.....I will just try to be positive! I posted the new 5 month pictures, and I am wearing the size 16s that fit. In last month's photos, my pants were a bit (way) too big. Hope you are all haveing a good day/evening and that Spring is ariving where ever you are! Thanks for listening! Dawn

Hey Dawn!! You are at the point I was at a few weeks ago. I did the scale bounce more times than even I am willing to admit! But, during that time the inches fell off me like crazy. NOW, the inches have stopped going, but the pounds are moving again. I upped my water and protein intake. It seemed to do the trick. Hope you are able to get the scale moving again. But, if it doesn't for a while, measure!!! OH...and before I forget....CONGRATS on the 16s!!!! That is AWESOME!!!!!! Susan

Dawn, please don't get discouraged, this has happened to all of us at one time or another. I know how you feel. Just last month I was going nuts seeing a 1 - 1.5 # weight loss every week. Now I've seen an 8 pound wt loss in two weeks. I increased my exercise from walking once or twice a week about 1 mile to walking 2.1 miles three to four times a week, increased my protein and water intake. I don't know if that did the trick but I'm going to stick to that regeme'. Have you checked your measurements? I know that when I wasn't losing the pounds I noticed I was losing inches. Please don't compair yourself to others. Everyone loses at different rates and some May have more or less to lose than you. Just keep up the great work you've done up to this date and keep you're chin up we're all here for you. Donna, sfy

Sounds like it is time for the inches to drop! And don't forget muscle weighs more than fat. Once you build up a little more muscel than the fat burning will kick into over drive. I am not a huge loser. I only lose about 2 pounds per week on average. Some weeks I stay the same then I will lose 4 pounds. (I also seem to lose more hair on those weeks). Don't forget that slow and steady wins the race!! we can just think of ourselves as the turtles of the group! Congrats on the size 16's that is great! Tara

Oh Dawn.....you are LOOKING wonderful and doing GREAT!!!! I have learned not to worry about what the scale says. It does not move like I think it should either. I believe you have lost more than me so think of that as a positive thing I have lost 74 lbs now and I am also in a size 16 misses pants. For the first time yesterday I wore a pair of capri jeans with button and zipper to work. I felt soooo good about myself because it had been maybe about 7 years since I had wore that size with a zipper. After I kept gaining weight and got to a size 18 I stopped buying the zipper pants and went with elastic waistbands...I am trying to break free from that now....zippers hold me in sooo much better. I need to get some new pictures up of me and hope to do it soon. Keep up the good work you are doing soooo good!!! Don't worry to much about needing those old clothes back...you have had the surgery and yes, there are always possiblities of re-gaining but if you stick to what you have learned in the past serveral months you should never have to see those sizes again my friend!!! Dawn, You are probably gaining muscle with your workout don't get discouraged keep up the good work. I use to get discouraged when I was working out two times a day and the scale wasn't moving much and the trainer said it's because I was gaining muscle. Susan
