Two sick kids = no sleep for me
Today when my MIL dropped of the kids she said Meg had diarrhea. I didn't pay much attention to what she said because she had some loose stool last night. She's two and could be cutting her 2 yr molars and always gets the poopies when she cuts teeth. Well, she didn't eat anything for dinner, but hasn't been eating much lately, either. We went to soccer practice for Nate and both kids were great and having a ball.
Well, right before bed I was giving them their bedtime snack. I was filling juice cups and Meg came over beside me and puked ALL over the floor and herself. Well, after seeing her puke, Nate ran to the bathroom and told me he puked. He said he did it because Meg's made him sick. I was like...whatever. We cleaned up Meg and about 1/2 hour later tried to put them to bed. Meg went down, but Nate was whining saying he wanted to sleep in our bed with the puke bucket. He went in the bathroom a couple of more times to *try* to puke, but nothing. I figured he was just trying to get me to agree to let him sleep in our bed, which I did.
I work in our basement below our bedroom. At about 11pm I heard him get out of bed and go to the bathroom. I logged off my work phones and went to check on him. He was crying and covered in puke. Puked all over himself and in my bed. It took me 1/2 an hour to clean up the bed, clean up him, settle him down, get the bed straightened up enough for him to be able to sleep in it and get him back to sleep. Dave has never been so glad to have me working from home before. He is a big time sympathy puker. He couldn't even come near the bathroom when Nate was puking. I sat in the bathroom with him.
Now I will have to work 1/2 a night of work so I can get some sleep and keep the kids out of daycare tomorrow. Fun, fun.
The sad thing is that as I was scrubbing my hands, so I don't catch whatever they had, briefly the thought crossed my mind "If I catch this, I might meet my 100 lbs weight loss goal by my 6 month post-op appt." How sick is that?
Well, if I'm not online tomorrow, I'm probably up to my elbows in puke. Wish us well and that this thing doesn't stick around long.
Hugs,
Tabby
oh tabby,
i feel for you. i hate it when my kids get the pukees. one good thing though is that my husband is great at puke clean up. we had a great routine... i took care of the pukee kid, and he took care of the sheets, rug, bed, etc. now that they are grown, they usually make the toilet, or at least a lined trash can that i set up for them. i still hold their hair though and rub their backs. and of course i hold the cool washcloth on their foreheads. it is so sad when your little ones are sick... i think it is just as hard on the mom and dad to have to see them that way.
anyway, i hope that nate and meg feel better tomorrow. my "baby" was sick from wednesday night until friday morning this past week. luckily, no puke though.
make sure you've got some ginger ale and gatorade on hand. give them a kiss for me.
fondly,
patricia
Thanks, Patricia. I will give them a kiss for you. I don't have any ginger ale or gatorade in the house. I wanted Nate to drink a glass of water before going back to bed, but knew he would just throw it up, since 5 minutes before that he threw up the Emetrol I gave him. I am sitting here with the monitor on and every time Meg makes a move, I am worried she is going to throw up again. YIKES.
I clean up the sheets, rugs, floor, toilet and have to remove the pukey clothes form the kids. Dave will wipe them of, but that's about it. MEN!!!
tabby,
don't have him drink a whole glass of anything... i'm sure you probably know this, but they should just have about an ounce every ten minutes. also, sometimes the syrup from fruit ****tail (or peaches or pears) in heavy syrup is better than emiltril. the kids don't think of it as medicine, and it seems to stay down better. just a tablespoon every 10 minutes or so for a while. it will really help with the pukees.
i hope they feel better soon.

Oh Tabby!
I remember those days!! It never failed, when one of the kids was sick they ALWAYS puked in our bed! My son and his g/f are now experiencing it with Raven -- who will be 2 in May!!
I agree with everyone else -- don't give them too much to drink or eat -- until their stomachs are settled...we had a ped. tell us one time to give our kids ice chips and if they could hold them down, then go on to water, ginger ale...etc.....
Let us know how they are doing today!
Hugs,
Holly
