i am so sad tonight...my little dog was killed by the neighbors dog today!!! he grbed spike by the head and shook him like a rag doll and crushed his skull and his eye bulged out and was bleeding so bad...we rushed him into the emergency vet and they told me his skull was crushed and his eye would have to be taken out and not sure of other injuries inside and we were looking at $1,000.00 plus with no guarantee he would live. we had to have him put to sleep he had way to many injuries!!! i fell down the steps trying to break the fight up and i have a broken finger and have to call the neuro surgeon in the morning i might need it operated on it is really broken bad they told us at the er tonight. i just got home a little bit ago. i am on vicoden and valum right now. i am in shock i think after seing how spike looked and died. we have him burried in the back yard and gary is going to make a cement headstone for him tomorrow. we called the cops and animal control and they did nothing!!!!!!!!! the animal control wrote them a ticket for not having a license for the dogs. BIG ******G DEAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! sorry for my language.
it is hard to type right now and i am tierd from the drugs. so if you don't see me online much this is why.

Oh Judy!!! I'm so sorry about your Spike. Pets become part of the family and it hurts no matter how you lose them....but to have that happen... I'm at a loss for words!!! Just know I care and sympathize with you right now.
Sorry to hear about the finger too! OUCH!!! Let us know what the doc says tomorrow. Take care of yourself.
Susan
oh judy,
my heart is breaking for you. to lose your spike that way. my two have just started fighting, and i know how gruesome it is to watch. i have scratches all over my feet from breaking them up and them stepping on me. i don't think that they will hurt each other... at least i hope not. they get along well except at some meal times, then lilah (the 8 month old puppy) will go after roxie (my 11 year old dog). we haven't seen any blood yet, and i check them out very well. i think it may be more of a dominance thing. roxie is the "alpha dog", but lilah is about 25 pounds larger and is trying to become the alpha.
and your finger... ouch! i understand your falling down the steps though. it is such a panic when they start to fight.
was the neighbor's dog in your yard? i always worry about other dogs coming into my yard. my pups have a doggie door, and i have an invisable fence, so they go out even when i am not at home. i know that they won't leave the yard, but you never know when they might get an unwelcomed visitor.
take care of yourself, and i am so sorry about your spike. i know how much it hurts ot lose a beloved pet.
fondly,
patricia
Oh, Judy!!! I'm so sorry that you had to put your dog down and that you broke your finger. What a horrible night. I can't believe that animal control and the police did nothing about your neighbors dog. I know how much pets can be another family member. I'm so sorry for your loss. My deepest sympathy for you and your family.
Hugs,
Tabby
That is awful to here Judy!!!! I am really sorry..if it was me I would have took a shot gun out there and blew that other dog away if I knew that nothing was going to be done about it. I don't know what I would do if anything happened to my two dogs....well, mine...the other one is hubby's and he is a pain in the ass for the most part, loveable but a pain! What kind of dog did you have??? The same thing happened to the neighbor little dog. And yes, nothing was done about it. I felt really bad after I found out and I would let my dogs out to play and use the bathroom. I knew she would see them out there and think about her little dog. I try to keep my dogs from running off up there to where the mean dog is. I have to put my dog on a leash when I take them out so that they both don't run off. I have such a hard time getting them to come back....my husband can call for them one time and they come running back for him .
You take care of yourself and good luck with that finger. Maybe in time you can get another dog. Don't beat yourself up over having to put your dog to sleep though. I am sure I would have had to do the same thing if it would have happened to mine. There is no way I could have afforded to have the surgery that was needed to keep the dog alive. I feel for ya my friend
