I admit it.. I am a lazy ass. I don't want to work out. Most days I don't work out. YES I know I should. YES I know the benefits. But its like dieting used to be. Just because its good for me doesn't mean I can/will do it. With that said. When I do attempt working out I either use the Gazelle or the Walk Away The Pounds Videos. If I am going to do it I wanna work all the body parts at one time and get it over with LOLOLOL. Good luck on your hunt for a work out for you!! *huggles* Felicia =0)

Donna, When I could I used to do the treadmill and the eliptical. The eliptical was the best workout. That is about all the advice that I can give. Just heard a Dr. talking today though about how muscle burns more calories than fat so getting more muscle was good. So as soon as I am cleared I am going to start doing some weight training as well. Good luck in your search. Sounds like you are doing a lot of walking which is greaT! Melissa

My nutritionist said to consume about 25-30grams of carbs before a workout, but I'm really not sure what to consume, or how it even works? does this mean all this time I've been working out I haven't been burning any calories??

Eat yogurt or a protein bar before you woork out. I eat half of a Revial Paradise bar (soy). It the only kind I like. It gives my 15 carbs. I find out I sweat more when I work out and I also work out better.

I admit the only exercise I do other than cleaning is walking. I do have Tae Bo videos that I plan to start, but haven't. Good luck finding something that works for you. Susan

I have a crazy work schedule too, 9 hours a day of the regular job...plus 2 or more hours of piano lessons at night. My best suggestion is to get a pedometer and wear it DAILY. I did this starting about 3 weeks ago. I wore it for a few days without making any special changes to my routine. After that I had a baseline of how many steps I took on average a day (it was sad...about 2,500). From there I made an effort to sneak in extra steps as much as possible. Now instead of calling an employee and telling them they have a package up front...I get off my bum and take a stroll into cubeland and deliver that package. While my lunch is heating in the microwave I take a stroll around the floor for 5 min. If it's quiet at my desk I pace back and forth etc. I do also go to the gym (the Y) regularly. This would not be a part of my routine but the membership was a gift so I need to use it...and I love it. It's a pain...when I'm done with work and lessons, I'm so tired and don't feel like going, but I manage to get myself there at least 3 days a week, some weeks more. Not suggesting the gym as "excercises" though - as I know what a crazy work schedule is like and assume you are, like me, a person that just wants to get home after your workshift is over.

mondays: aqua class tuesdays: cardio> bicycle, rowing, elliptical, whatever looks good at the gym wednesdays: Vdance class (dancercise) + some cardio thursday: aqua class fridays: Vdance class (dancercise) + some cardio + maybe something new saturdays: Vdance class (dancercise) + some cardio sundays i relax, cos there is no classes that catches my eye. every one of the above classes are presented by a different instructor, so lots of variety! i was very self-conscious in the beginnng, but just took it slow. adding on exercise as i went along. i am glad to note my @rse does not do the jiggy when i walk, thank goodness. it was quite bad three months ago, before i started gym. i have never been a big loser, put i seem to be loosing inches. i suppose the muscles are toning, pulling tighter and filling the flab left from the fatloss. i have a few wholewheat biscuits before i start gym, and a peach / fruit after gym. if i dont eat before gym, i yawn the whole time while jumping around. i am extremely lazy to go to gym. everyday i think of a better excuse not to go, then force myself to, remembering that i always feel good with what i have accomplished at the gym, so why do i want to sabotage myself? Michelle, dont worry, honey anything one does consumes calories, even breathing, so you must have lost extra doing the exercise Response from Michelle B at 5:55 PM PST on 03/14/2007 does this mean all this time I've been working out I haven't been burning any calories??

Dear Donna: I too, have to admit that I have been extremely lazy, but I am TRYING to work some extra calorie burning in. I have Tae Bo videos, resistance bands, a balance ball and a mini-trampoline at home. I have found that I like the mini-tramp as I can "run/jog" on it in the living room while watching TV. It is harder than it looks, and I could only do about 7 minutes at first, but have worked up to about 20. (When I manage to get on it.) Maybe some day I will be able to do it through a whole sit-com. I've tried the ball once, and it seems like it may come in handy some day. I've done the bands a couple of times and think I will like them also. Both can be done in front of the TV, so they don't feel so much like work, but I have not really carved out the time to do them as I should. It seems that by the time I get home, feed the family, clean the kitchen, badger the children into doing what THEY need to do, check the homework, attend the committee meetings, etc.....I have NO time for myself. What I HAVE been managing to get done (this week at least) is a walk around the industrial park after lunch the past couple of days....AND my (hopefully) secret weapon is.......we have a flight of 21 stairs in the shop area going up to a 1 story loft. Every time I need to go out to the shop, (or to the bathroom even) I "run" up and down this flight of stairs 2 times. (I tried 3 and thought I would DIE.....) Monday I managed 6 total trips!!!! It only takes a couple of minutes each time, so I am not away from my desk for long. I figure if I continue, eventually, I will be able to do 3, 4, 5, 6 trips at a time and will have a smaller butt to show for it. I have even challenged a co-worker to do the same. The stairs are a convenient way to get my heart going a few times a day, and since they are here....if I do the walk and the stairs, I don't have to feel so horrible about not finding the time once I get home. I have considered getting a belly-dancing video that my daughter & I can do together, because that sounds fun, but maybe I should try to get one from the library first. Good luck finding what works for you, but I think that every little bit will help, and be creative! Dawn
