Here's an article you guys may want to read. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17584069/ Take your vitamins! It's a matter of life and death!!! This means for the rest of your life!! Remember, this was a commitment we made when we had surgery. I want you ALL to be healthy!! Susan

thanks susan, what an important article... i know we all agree to take our vitamins, somehow though there are many that don't. i sat with a women at our support class that has never taken a vitamin since surgery. i am going to try to get her email addy and send this to her, or i will print it and take it the end of this month to our meeting. i am lax occasionally and forget one or two of my calcium citrates in a day ( i take 6), but other than that i am pretty good. i also dink a lot of skim milk, so the rheumatologist said tht if i miss a few it wouldn't hurt as much as someone with little dairy intake. thanks again for the info. patricia

Patricia!!!! What a lovely lady you are!!! I agree. I don't understand people who don't follow their surgeon's instructions. I know mine stressed this was a life long commitment and that if I wasn't ready to make that commitment that I needed to wait for surgery until I was. What's heart breaking about this situation is these people could PREVENT this problem if they just followed the program. Instead though, they bring grief and pain to themselves, their families and their friends by refusing to comply. Okay...stepping off my soapbox before I REALLY get started.... Susan

YUP and also get your blood work done as you are asked to get it done. I read several messages in the last couple weeks on the main board where people got 1 year out and stopped doing blood work cuz they felt "they were fine and no longer needed it" ummmm your not fine till the surgeon says your fine.. Scary stuff.. I am so used to taking them now that its just second nature. Besides I take the one for the gallbladder and nothing motivates you to remember your pills like that one *grin*. Thanks for link! Felicia =0)

You are so right Felicia!! That was another point my PCP and surgeon both stressed. This is life long - not only the vitamins but also the bloodwork because if we don't get it done, we don't know how our levels truly are. So many trends can be caught just by the labwork and damage can be prevented if caught early. Important!! Commit to taking care of yourselves ladies!!! If you aren't taking your vitamins, START! If you are taking them, KEEP IT UP!!! And, DO YOUR LABS and go to your follow up appts!!! It's your lives we are talking about!!! Okay...hopping back off the soapbox.... Susan
