carole king...tapestry
i forgot how much i loved this "album" when i was a teen. it was the first album i ever owned and has remained my favorite through every other artist and genre. my son downloaded it today for me and set me up to have access to his 2100 songs on his computer through my computer. i had forgotten how good music is for the soul. he came in my room today and set it all up, and is in the process of setting up the ipod nano that my daughter and her beau got me for my birthday. he said he was tired of watching me watch t.v. all day, and crappy t.v. at that, and wanted me to start listening to some new artists and my old favorites. he recognized my need, as he too suffers with the dreadful funks of life.
of course, i just went downstairs (it is after midnight here) to fill my icepack, and realized that he and his buddy are sitting downstairs watching a movie. i thought they were out back, so i apologized for my vocals. they said it was ok, i had a good voice. when i explained that i would have been quieter if i knew they were inside, they told me it didn't matter because they could hear me outside too!!! ok, so i like to belt out a good song now and then!!!
feeling better and wanted to share,
patricia
Hi Patricia!
Glad to hear you are feeling better!!
I, too, love to belt out a good song every now and then.
Thank goodness most people are INSIDE when I'm out walking.
I tend to forget where I am and what I'm doing when I get the urge to sing.
Unfortunately for my neighbors, I don't have a good voice.....
Susan
hi susan,
your post made me laugh. that is why i seldom use headphones when i walk, i end up singing and looking like an idiot... and probably sounding like one too! this morning my husband iand i went out to breakfast with the top down in his new car. he is so funny, he just sings and sings. i told him that if he didn't stop singing show tunes (he loves xm radio and loooovvvess musicals) that he would never be able to pick up any chicks. he turned to me and said "yes i can" and then nodded at me. i told him it was only because "i was easy". we had a good laugh.

p.s. peter frampton was my very first live concert in philadelphia... probably around 1976, and yes i had his albums also.
Oh, Patricia...so glad you are feeling better. Music really is good for the soul. I love to listen to music good and loud. One thing I miss about driving to work. Now when I am in the van, the kids are, too and have on their DVD player, so I can't turn the music up very loud. I tried today and my son asked me "Mommy, can you please plug in the movie?" Guess he didn't want to listen to me sing anymore. I used to sing somewhat decently, but when I got pregnant with my son my voice got pretty deep and never went back to what it was. Now I don't like the way I sound when I am singing.
Enjoy your iPod. I want to buy myself one. Now that the weather is breaking I want to get out and WALK!!! I went out today and LOVED It!!!
Hugs,
Tabby
thanks tabby,
i remember the days with the kids in the car... we didn't have dvd players then, but we did sing a lot. i had two didscovery toy tapes that my kids loved, and we all just sang and sang. now i have a dvd player in my truck, and it will probably never be used. i rarely have anyone in my back seat. enjoy your babies now, they really do grow up too fast.
fondly,
patricia
PATRICIA,
SO GLAD YOU'RE FEELING BETTER.
GO AHEAD AND BELT OUT A SONG OR TWO, IF IT MAKES YOU FEEL BETTER THAT'S ALL THAT MATTERS. I CAN'T CARRY A TUNE IF IT KILLED ME, IT DOES KILL OTHERS THOUGH BUT ASK ME IF I CARE? I'VE ALWAYS LOVED AND LISTENED TO ALL TYPES OF MUSIC, STILL DO.
GIRL, TAPESTRY? THAT BRINGS ME BACK TO MY HIGH SCHOOL DAYS. OH MY GOD, THAT'S REALLY DATING ME. WANT GREAT TIMES THEY WERE.
I PERSONALLY WAS, AND STILL AM INTO PETER FRAMPTON, BILLY JOEL, TOTO etc . . . YOU GET THE PICTURE.
I THINK IT'S WONDERFUL THAT YOU SON DOWN LOADED THE MUSIC FOR YOU. I WISH I KNEW HOW TO DO THAT, I'M COMPUTER ILLITERATE EXCEPT FOR WEB SURFING, CHECKING MY E-MAILS AND THIS SITE.
DONNA, SFY
thanks donna,
that p.s. i wrote on susan's reply was really for you... i think i got my posts confused. i'm going to have to ask my son to download some frampton for me. yes, those were the days. it's funny how listening to a song can bring back such forgotten memories. good ones thank goodness!
have a great evening,
patricia
LOL! I too LOVE Carole!!! My mom had the record when I was growing up and I played it so much that I wore the needle right through the vinal!!I hunted and hunted for a replacement for years....and couldnt find it! I got a copy on CD but it just wasn't the same without the hiss and pop of the record. My Hubby...then boyfriend finally found it and surprised me for Christmas one year. Now I sing stuff off that album at Karaoke every Saturday!!!
I'm glad you are feeling better and that you have Carole to entertain you!
