Update on Deanne
Hi everyone.
I just spoke with Joe, Deanne's husband. She is out of surgery. I didn't get any details on how long it lasted, etc. because Joe had bad news. It seems the cancer has spread all thru her abdominal cavity. Not sure exactly which organs are affected. He did mention it was all thru her colon and that the kidneys had cancer on them also. I think he said something about the intestines and other organs, but I was in such shock that I barely registered much beyond the fact that there was nothing they could do for her.
I did ask him to give Deanne our love and to let her know we are all thinking of her and praying for her. He said he would be sure and tell her and that he knew she would appreciate it. He is going to update me as he knows more. I'm not sure when Deanne is going to feel like talking, but as soon as she is, I'll let you guys know so if you want to call her you can.
Give your loved ones a hug today....and if you feel something isn't right, GO TO THE DOCTOR!!!! Please!!

nothing they could do??? does this mean tht they didn't remove any of the cancer? i know with my aunt, they said they thought the same thing but they took out what they could and they did chemo and she is cancer free... and it was all through her abdomin, they even thought that they might have to remove her leg because of how much was in her pelvis. please tell me that they didn't just sew her up and say there was nothing they could do. there are miracles out there to be had. my aunt was one of them and deanne could be too. oh i hope they removed what they could and will do chemo and not just give up. she is so young and has young boys doesn't she?

Honestly Patricia, I have no idea what they did and didn't do.
Her hubby was in shock when we were talking. I didn't like to ask too many questions, ya know? I will be talking with him tomorrow at some point and will find out more then, I hope. Once I have more news I will update you. I pray that Deanne can have the same outcome as your aunt.
Yes, they have children. Two small sons - both age 5 right now. The oldest turns six in about a month.

I know, it seems unreal they didn't find it sooner. But, they weren't looking in the right area then.
This is one of those times when you think "if they'd just done her RNY OPEN instead of Lap, they would've found it then".....but really, you can't second guess these things.
I will pass along your words when I speak with Joe or Deanne again.

OMG Susan I am very much in shock. Felicia called and told me ahead of time but reading it now I am still in such shock it makes me sick to my stomach. Please give our love to her family. WOW..and you are very right when you say if something does not feel right go to the Dr.
As my heart breaks for her my thoughts and prayers are with her.

I can't tell you how shocked and sad I am right now. As everyone says, it's truely amazing that it wasn't picked up sooner. We just have to hope for the best and pray. Prayer is such a powerful thing and I know everyone will be praying for her.
Please pass along to deanne and her husband that we're all thinking of her, and praying for them and their sons.
May our heavenly father lay his healing hands on deanne, guide joe, deanne's husband and her surgeons on this terrible journey they are about to undertake. Watch over and protect them during this troubled time. In jesus christ we pray.
