Worst Week Ever Since Surgery!!m Long story.
This week has been one of the worst weeks for me. I was fine until Tuesday afternoon and all the sudden got this terrible pain on my right side I thought it was from my lunch and that maybe I ate too fast I waited at work as long as I could and decided I needed to leave when I did. (I'm not sure how I actually made it home) I got home went straight to bed (still thinking it was the food) I had a piece of a protein bar. Well after about four hours I started to feel much better and need to get a little protein in so I made another mistake and ate a few peanuts and this is when I knew it had to be more than just my food. The pain came back. I called my surgeon and explained what was going on and he instructed me to go to the ER. This was one of the worst visits to a hospital ER including dealing with Military hospital. I waited for four hours just to be called back for them to give me an IV and draw some blood. Then another hour to be called to go to a room. The process never improved I then waited, waited and waited somemore before a dr came in to see me. My blood work came back with a few flags and they wanted to do an CT and possibly and Ultrasound. Well the CT was a contrast one that you have to drink this nasty stuff. The nurse gives me the contrast and one I tasted it I know something wasn't right. He diluted it with apple juice. Well I explained again to him that I couldn't have anything with more than 5 gms of sugar. He went and check the apple juice it had 15 grams per serving of sugar. So he went to get me the contrast with jus****er. The CT and Ultrasound both came back with issues. My Gallbladder is filled with stones and smudge and my liver is inflamed and my bowl is swollen. Well they kept me in the hospital in hopes to do my surgery today but it was decided that we would do it next Thursday in hopes that is could be laproscopic vs an open procedure. Everytime they brought me a tray it was filled with foods full of sugar and not a sf diet tray.
I'm going to get back to bed. Hope everyone else had a wonderful week.

OH Susan I am so sorry you have to go through this. I am really glad that they found it now instead of a month or so from now. I hear ya on the ER thing though. Been there. You would think they would take the time to know a little about RNY if they have done it before but NO. At least you left them with a little info that maybe will help the next person. I hope that you are at least comfortable until they can get this done. Get some rest and take care of you. Bug hugs coming your way.
xoxo,
Melissa
Sooo sorry you are feeling bad! I had my gallbladder taken out about 12 years ago. It is a pain that is one of the worse....worse than child birth as far as I am concerned!! I feel for ya my friend. With all the other things you have going on inside of you I know makes you feel even worse. Stay in bed and get as much rest as possible and you might want to really watch what you eat so that it doesn't get things flaired up again. Did they give you a list of things you can eat that is not going to put you back into pain again?
I hope everything goes ok for you and keep us posted on how things are going.

HOLY CRAP!!!! I'm so sorry that you are not feeling well and have to have another surgery. I hope that you are not suffering until next Thursday. That would just suck. Please take care and know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.
I know what you mean about the non-SF foods. Dave's nurse was telling me that there were popsicles in the freezer on their floor if I wanted to get one for him, instead of waiting for the cafeteria to deliver his tray. I went to the freezer and grabbed one and then took it to him and was reading the label and it was a regular popsicle. Why in the world would they offer regular popsicles to gastric bypass patients? I almost gave it to him, thinking that the nurse knew what she was doing. Guess not.
Hang in there and keep us posted.
Hugs,
