Gay!! How did your 1st day go!?!?!

Thanks so much for asking. I did miss all of you guys today, that is for sure. Once I get more comfortable with things there I will have to see if I can use a computer during lunch to check in. I did filing today for the most part. This is a company that networks medical professionals out to the community and also has an assisted living home with a floor of skilled nursing. So all these therapists and nurses make notes on patients and then they need filed. I had a huge stack of paper today that needed to be alphabetized and then put into files in the right place in the flolder. If this will be my permanent job I will have to come up with an easier way than what they showed me. They are in the proccess of doing away with paper copies but in the meantime it all still needs filed. It is a small office and very casual. I am being trained by a lady that is close to deaf so I found myself forgetting and asking her something and not getting an answer and remembering I had to go to her and ask her to her face. But a sweet lady and great group of people. The boss was saying that he wants to use me elsewhere and I may even end up over at the home helping with activities. That would be so much fun, so half day there and half day at the office. I am a little sore from bending over the filing cabinet all day, but much better than I expected to be feeling. I had my water bottle with me and got my liquids in but was not as active as I am used to being. Going to go back and get on the treadmill before Idol comes on and then Lost. Hi Gay!!! Glad to hear you had a good first day working!! You were definitely MISSED today. Thought about you all day long and wondered how it was going for you. Filing is a PITA to do until you find "your way" to do it. Everyone has their own way of making it go faster. Good luck developing your system. Can't wait to watch Idol tonight too. Riasing hand to admit to being a total idol fanatic. My fav. this year actually IS one of the guys...I like Chris Sligh with the crazy hair. I like Melinda(? right first name) Dolittle the best from the females. I'm a voter, but not until the top 12 start, so next week I'll be keeping the phone lines busy! (fyi) - I usually am able to pick the top 2 at the start (during audtions). Last year everyone thought I was NUTS when I took one look at Taylor Hicks and declared him the next winner. This year my heart says Chris is going to make it..but I fear my luck at predicting may have run out.

So glad you made it through your first day! I guess you will just have to yell if you need to get the older ladies attention....lol. At least your lungs will get a workout . I am sure you will get the hang of the job. I hate to alphabetize but it is part of my job to...when I put peoples envelopes of pictures away. I find myself all the time singing the ABC's . You sound like you have a pretty interesting job. I was really bored at mine today. Nobody wanted pictures done much until of course when it was time for me to close . Gay, it sounds like your 1st day was a success!!!! You made me laugh with the filing. I worked at a bookstore for years, and as we shelved books you could hear us moving through the aisles with our bookcarts, all singing under our breath...."a,b,c,d,e,f,g...h,i,j,k, lmnop..." I am wondrinf if that was running through your head too! As far as being active....filing IS on your feet, right? You might want to wear a pedometer one day to see how much walking you're actually doing while you work. You may surprise yourself! I found out that I didn't walk much at all (to be expected since I am mostly a receptionist), but it helped me seek out ways to sneak in extra steps (taking stairs, parking further away, pacing while waiting for my lunch to heat up etc).

But I know there will be a time where I am were you are. I realllllllllllly want to work down at the local nursery.
