Happy Tuesday...

I know I have not posted about Dave lately, so I wanted to update you on his surgery. He came home on Friday and has been doing well since. He hopes to go back to work tomorrow. Actually, we went to town on Saturday and he went into the office for an hour or so while I took the kids to lunch and to play at Burger King. I'd probably take some more time off or go back as 1/2 days for a week, but that is just me. He thinks they can survive without him. They have been having problems with a new machine they got in december and they are getting a replacement machine tomorrow, so he thinks he needs to be there for this. I just hope he observes and doesn't over do it. He had his followup appt yesterday. I know he was disappointed that he didn't lose any weight from his surgery day, but then again he was naked when they weighed him for surgery, it was a different scale, and it was first thing in the morning after not having anything to eat or drink for 12 hours. Yesterday he had gained a pound from the surgery day. I guess after the two week protein shake diet he didn't have as much water weight to lose. He is now on the pureed diet. He is doing great. Just taking pain meds at night. I'm doing great. Yesterday when I put my weight down for my Monday Weigh in, I kind of fudged it a little. I was 195.5 on Sunday, but yesterday it was back up to 196, so I put 195.5 down because I didn't sleep well on Sunday night because of my son. Well, this morning when I got up I was hoping it would be back down to 195.5 and it was.....194!!!! I am down 88 lbs and only have 29 more to go to get to my goal. YAY!!! OK...off to go shopping. Hi Tabby!! Your husband is a week post op!! His tummy is still swelled from surgery so he shouldn't be disappointed!! I can't believe he is on pureed foods already! I was on the liquid diet for 2 weeks!!!! I am glad he is doing well and I hope he doesn't over do it when he goes back to work!! I took 3 weeks off and then I went back for a week on 1/2 days! Congrats on your weight loss!!! It's so exciting, isn't it?? Have fun shopping!!! Hugs, Holly

Hey pretty lady!! I can't believe Dave is going back to work already!! There was NO WAY I was ready to work after only a week! He's the man!!! Hope he doesn't overdo it...and maybe only goes in for half days when he's needed for a while???? We can hope anyway, right? Oh...and remind him, he's still retaining fluids from surgery. Tabby~~ I was wondering how he was feeling. Glad to hear he is doing so well. I can not imagine going back to work and I hope that he takes it easy and does not overdo it. Maybe once he is there he will change his thinking and only do 1/2 days for a while. The scale will start dropping fast for him and he will get great results. TABBY, CONGRATULATE DAVE ON A SUCCESSFUL SURGERY AND TELL HIM NOT TO GET DISCOURAGED WITH NOT LOSING ANY WEIGHT RIGHT AWAY. DON'T FORGET WE TEND TO RETAIN WATER THAT FIRST POST-OP WEEK DUE TO THE IV FLUIDS WE WERE GIVEN. AS YOU SAID THE SCALES ALSO MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE. EVERYONE IS CALIBRATED DIFFERENTLY AND SOME HAVEN'T BEEN CALBRATED FOR YEARS. PLEASE ENCOURAGE HIM NOT TO OVER DO IT. AS YOU AND ALL OF US KNOW WE'VE ALL BEEN THERE DONE THAT W/ THIS SURGERY. Tabby, I am so glad he is doing well. I am sure he will lose big time in now time. We know that one all too well. Make sure he does not over do it. Although I knwo I was back to work in a week.
