Question...
I love knowing that I can come to all of you when I have a question....I know I don't know you all personally, although I can honestly say I wish I did....but all of you have come to mean so much to me! I am thrilled beyond belief that I found this group!!!
But on to my question....I have had this happen a few times, but it has been at least 2 months since the last time and my daughter suggested that I ask you all if any of you have had this happen....
Out of the blue....usually 4-5 hours after my dinner....I get real nauseated....almost to the point I wish I could throw up ...however, I don't....I just get awful dry heaves....and of course, that makes my stomach hurt something awful from trying to throw up something that isn't there! It only lasts about a half hour -- which is actually a half hour too long....but then I feel fine.....
The first couple of times that it happened I noticed that I was VERY upset about something....I don't remember being upset tonight.....but I have felt very emotional all day today.....Do you think that could have something to do with it? Has anyone else had this happen to them??
Thanks for listening!!
Hugs,
Holly
Holly,
Honestly I so feel for you. I have never thrown up since surgery but I sure as heck have had the heaves. I never had any reason and it was never around when I have eaten. I wish I had answers for you. I was told that it could be from iron and or B-12 deficiencies. Mine passed and I have not had the problem at all in a few months. I would def call your surgeon to see what they might have to say. I am sure we are not the only ones who have had it. Another thought that was brought to my attention was that it could be from the allergies I have. It does not take much "nose drainage" to fill up our little pouch to make us have the heavies. Who knows. I really do feel for you though. I wish you the best and hope you can find an answer. For me a few gas-x strips and just resting and laying down is all that helped.
xoxo and big hugs,
Melissa
Hi Melissa,
I took a nice hot shower and that seemed to help me relax. I'm wondering if maybe it is just my nerves. We just found out that my Aunt has lung cancer...in both lungs...and I was so darn emotional yesterday....I have a call into my surgeon's office this morning, so I will keep you posted!!
Holly
Holly, Sorry you are feeling like this! I can remember I had that problem for the first few months after surgery but I think it has left me know. I think it was just that things wasn't setting on my stomach right. I take Lexapro for my nerves. We have had alot of problems with my oldest son since I went to the hospital for my WLS. It has been one thing after another with him. I really think that some of my stalls with the scales not moving at times or the fact that I got sick was due to stress with him. My "happy pills" can only help me sooo much but maybe you should talk to your doctor and see if he can put you on something for your nerves. It may help, I don't know??? Maybe our bodies are still adjusting to the fact that we have altered our digestive system and it could take time to get straightened out. These are all my guesses of course so maybe you should just talk to your doc.
Best of luck and hope you can get straightened out. Being sick is not fun!!!

Hi Lisa,
See, I think its my nerves, too. When I asked my PCP about it, he said he didn't think it was nerves and he talked about taking me off of my Paxil this Spring....and then I didn't have any "episodes" for the last couple of months until last night....I was emotional all day yesterday ....i just found out that my favorite Aunt has lung cancer in both lungs...its weird how it hits me hours (like 4 or 5 hours) after I have eaten my last meal....I have a call into my surgeon's office this morning, so I will keep you posted!

Holly,
I have never had this happen personally but have heard of it happening to many people.
First and foremost I would call your surgeon and inform him/her of what's been going on. It does sound like nerves. It's amazing how much our nervous system affects other areas of our body.
Even though you don't remember beign upset about anything, you May have been thinking of your aunt subconsciously.
How about keeping a detailed record of what you eat for the next few weeks to a month and notate when you get this nausea and dry heaves and your feeling at that time and/or during the day. It May help and you'll be able to identify the problem.
I'm so sorry to hear about your aunt. I know exactly how you're feeling. My mouth was diagnosed w/ lung cancer in sept. Of 2006 and has just now finished her chemptherapy treatments. What stage is your aunt in? Are they going to attempt radiation and chemo? Please write me and keep me informed of how she's doing and if you have any questions.
I'll be saying a prayer for your aunt that she pulls through this ordeal and can be w/ you and your family for a while longer.
