Dave is doing well today.
I got to the hospital around 12:30 today and he had already been up and had his leak test, walked the halls twice, got catheter out and was off the PCA pump and sat in the chair for an hour. Busy, busy. I've had him walk the halls twice since I have been here. He is taking a nap now and I will walk with him again before I leave. I will leave around 7:30 because I have to pick up my son and get him in bed at a decent time because he has preschool tomorrow. He told the nurse that on a scale of 1-10, his pain is a 2-3. Not bad. He is doing so well and not complaining at all. I mean AT ALL!!!! Not typical for a man. He has complained more with a cold or stuffy nose. What a trooper.
Oh, today I had orientation for Nate for kindergarten. He liked it. I can't wait to see how he tests in April at Registration. He will be 5 in July, so I worry that he isn't ready yet. He has had pre-k since September and still has a few months to go. They also said that the 17 kids that test the lowest get into the all-day Kindergarten program. Sad to say, but with my work schedule, I am hoping he gets all-day. Am I a bad mom?
My plan for tomorrow is to wake up around 6:30 (YUCK...since I work midnight shift, I am NOT a morning person...AT ALLLLL...this makes 3 days in a row to have to wake up early), meet my girlfriend at 7:45 to get her daughter to take the kids to pre-K. I am going to run in to Walmart to get some things we have run out of, then head in to the hospital to bring Dave home. YAY!!!
That's my update for today. Thank you all for all of your support and well wishes. It has meant a lot to us this week. You guys are the best!!!
Hugs,
Tabby
Tabby, it is so cool that you and Dave have this journey and lifestyle to share with each other. I too think now that Dave is on this, it will help the kids with their eating habits. Possibly the junk won't be in the house since neither of you can eat it now. But Dave is lucky that you have been through this already and he has you to help him along. Should be interesting to see how he does.
I do not think it is bad at all wanting your son in all day kindergarten. If you want him in all day, I would even ask if they would do it for him. Maybe being younger he will benefit from it alot being there all day. I don't know how attached he is to you and if he would handle being gone all day. I know it is just the past couple years that they started all day kindergarten and the majority of parents want their kids in the all day programs. Out of a 5 elementary schools there is only one class of half day kids. For us all day means snack time, and a little more activities. But they academically have to keep with the half day kids. I think it is just more casual and not as rushed as the half day kids are.
Well, I know you are so busy and will let you go. Take care of yourself and enjoy Dave coming home.......Gay
Thanks, Felicia. I am taking care of myself. I am noticing that I am getting in A LOT more water the past two days. I'm peeing constantly. I packed some protein snacks for the hospital, so I don't have to eat at the hospital. I had some soy crisps, some beef jerkey and some turkey breast and cheese. I keep drinking water instead of eating things in front of Dave. I just had a snack while he was napping. I have had my protein shake on my way in the past two days and will do the same tomorrow. I got in 70 grams of protein yesterday and have had 57 grams already today. Still need to get something for dinner. Maybe I'll get some Wendy's chili on my way home. I think I got around 7.5 hours of sleep last night. Not bad. I'll try to go to sleep earlier tonight, too. Once Dave is home I can sleep a little longer and lounge around with him to rest up. Nap with Megan or something.
Thanks for thinking of me,
Tabby
That is wonderful to hear Tabby!!! Glad your hubby is doing so good. Yep, that is strange for a man not to be in much pain. I am proud of him! I hope he gets along ok and soon starts feeling like a new man...since he has a new woman *wink-wink* I am sure you all will enjoy the journey together. I wish you both luck.
I really can't blame you for wanting your son to go to school all day. I would feel the same if it was me. Less you will need to pay a babysitter if you have one. Keep us up to date on how things go once the little man comes home for the hospital.
