Google "pouch rules for dummies" it gives a great explanation for the no drinking rule along with lots more information about what we do and why we do it. I found it very helpful. Annette

Hey gay, like everyone else I was instructed to stop drinking 1/2 hour before meals and resume 1/2 - 1 hour after meals. Never, never drink w/ meals. As you see from everyone else's post we all react differently to situations. I will, on very rare occasions take a sip of one of my family's drinks, especially if I think what I'm eating is dry. Other wise I stick to the rules. #1 w/ not drinking prior to eating leaves more room for the important stuff, protein #2 w/ drinking 1 hour after eating it decreases the risk of flushing out the protein from your system to fast, thus keeping you feeling full longer. Hope this helps, donna, sfy

Yep, still doing the 1/2 hour before and 1/2 hour after rule. I messed that up once and got sick, so I haven't tried it again.

I was given the same rules but really struggled with it. My nurse told me it was okay to have "some" water before eating as water flushes right through and won't effect my intake during the meal. I can't drink during (unless a tiny sip) and i get really sick if i drink less than 1/2 hour after eating.

I was told at the doctor office that I can now drink up to the time to eat. After I eat I should wait 30-45 minutes before I drink and if I do HAVE to drink only make it small drinks. I try so hard not to drink after I eat but sometimes it is like I just have to. It really don't bother me much. But as a rule I try not to over do it if possible. Lisa S.
