SNACKY POOS
I KNOW WE'RE SUPPOSED TO EAT 6 SMALL MEALS A DAY BUT MORE DAYS THAN NOT I ONLY EAT THREE. THE NUT AT THE HOSP. WHERE I HAD MY SURGERY SUGGESTED A SNACK IN BETWEEN MEALS. HOW? I'M USUALLY STILL FULL FROM THE LAST MEAL AND ALL THE FLUIDS I DRINK. SHE MADE THE SUGGESTION BUT DIDN'T GIVE ME AND IDEAS ON WHAT TO EAT. DUH!
I KNOW MANY OF YOU DRINK PROTEIN SHAKES, I'VE TRIED, BUT CAN'T STOMACH THEM, LITERALLY. THEY NO SOONER GO DOWN THEN THEY'RE RIGHT BACK WHERE THEY STARTED FROM.
ANY SUGGESTIONS FOR IN BETWEEN SNACKS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. I KNOW YOU ALL HAVE SOME IDEAS. THANKS

I wasn't required to eat 6 small meals a day just 3 and I could have a small snack in between if I wanted to but almost never do. I pretty much live on cottage cheese, avocados and then what ever I fix for every one else for dinner lolol. I do drink protein shakes ( and you should try Pro Complex I bet it would stay down haven't met a person yet that it didn't agree with... But hey there is always a 1st. ). I would suggest if you want to snack in between meals that it doesn't have to be a "snack food" but just something you are hungry for. What about cheese? Or jerky? or some kind of veggie? Deli meats are good also for snacks. Yogurts would be good to. Some kind of fruit if you can tolerate it. With the size of the meals I am eating now LOL it feels like the ARE the snacks. Ok and there are the protein bars but I don't see a good thing about them so ew why bother. Over priced "supposedly good for you" candy bars. OK OK OK my 2 cents there LOLOLOL.

WHERE DO YOU BUY THE PRO COMPLEX? I TRY TO GET IN ALL MY PROTEIN W/ MEALS BUT AM NEVER REALLY SURE IF I GETTING THE WHOLE AMT. OR NOT. I ALWAYS FORGET TO GET ON FITDAY TILL THE END OF THE WEEK OR SOMEONE HERE MENTIONS IT.
I LOVE DELI MEATS AND HAVE BEEN EATING THEM BUT I FEEL LIKE A PIG. I ALWAYS SEEM TO BE IN THE FRIGE, EVEN MY MOTHER SAYS: "YOU'RE IN THE FRIGE AGAIN? OR YOU'RE EATING AGAIN?"
FRUIT IF I CAN TOLERATE IT? BABY, I CAN TOLERATE EVERYTHING I PUT IN MY MOUTH, EVEN FROM DAY ONE. I KNOW.
AS I'M WRITTING THIS I'M EATING A PROTEIN BAR. I HAVE QUITE A FEW, BUT ALWAYS FORGET TO EAT ONE. THEY'RE PRETTY GOOD BUT AFTER THE FIRST HALF THAY START TASTING SLIGHTLY CHEMICALLY (real word?)

B: 1/2 CUP SPECIAL K PROTEIN W/ 1/2 CUP 2% MILK AND 2TBSP RASINS
L: 1/2 CUP HOME MADE CREAM OF BROCCOLI SOUP
D: 1 & 1/2 PC OF CHICKEN BRAID MINUS THE CRESENT ROLL.
1 "PURE PROTEIN" PROTEIN BAR. 20gms
JUST IN CASE YOU ASK,HERE'S THE RECIPE FOR THE CHICKEN BRAID
1 LARGE CAN OF SUE BEA 98% FAT FREE CAN OF CHICKEN
1 CUP SHREDDED CHEESE
1 GARLIC CLOVE MINCED
1 SMALL GREEN PEPPER DICED
1 VERY SMALL ONION DICED
SALT AND PEPPER TO TASTE
JUST ENOUGH MAYO (about 1/3c) TO BIND EVERYTHING.
MIX ALL TOGETHER
SPREAD TUBE OF CRESENT ROLLS ONTO A BAKING SHEET PAN.
PINCH EDGES TOGETHER.
SPREAD CHICKEN MIXTURE DOWN CENTER OF CRESENT ROLL
SLICE BOTH SIDES OF CRESENT ROLL AT SAME LEVEL
PICK UP EACH SIDE OF ROLL AND TWIST INTO SMALL KNOT OVER CHICKEN
TAKE ENDS FOLD UP AND STRETCH AROUND SIDES
BAKE AT 350 TILL CRESENT ROLL IS GOLDEN BROWN.

Hey Donna!!
Well, at the very beginning, my surgeon wanted me to eat every 3 hours so that came out to about 6 meals per day. Of course, protein drinks were counted as a meal.
NOW my surgeon wants me to have 3 meals and a snack at night - IF needed. He also wants me to give up the protein drinks....but I can't/haven't. I still can't eat enough food to get in all my protein every day otherwise.
So, I log everything into Fitday all day long so I know what my totals are...and by the end of the day if I need more, then I have a snack. If I've met my "needs" but I still want to snack, I drink water.

THANKS FOR THE GREAT HELP. I DO OCCASIONALY LOG ONTO FITDAY, WHEN I REMEMBER THAT IS.
I ALSO EAT ONLY 3 MEALS A DAY BUT DON'T FEEL AS IF I GET ENOUGH PROTEIN IN, ESPECIALLY SINCE I DON'T DRINK THOSE PROTEIN DRINKS.

Well...that's really hard to answer. My snack depends on what I need. If I'm lacking calcium, I'll have s/f hot chocolate made with skim milk. If I need protein, I'll have some ham or turkey....or a protein bar....or a protein shake....or RTD protein. If I'm just low on calories, I go eat whatever I'm in the mood for that's within our guidelines...
