Since I am such a slow loser, I thought I would see how many calories you are all consuming per day. When I showed my NUT my eating logs, she just said that I was in no way eating too much, but she did not give me any concrete numbers. Maybe I am eating to many calories.....or not enough? SOOOOOOO.......how many calories do you eat in a day? Thanks! Dawn

I average around 700 + but I have to say that I do not count calories AT ALL. Only reason I know what I take in is that its auto calculated in fitday. There really is no way we could be over eating at this stage. BUT with that said, you could get quite a bit of calories in depending on the TYPE of food you are eating. I get my 90 grams of protein in, in a day and thats all I focus on. I do eat low carb by choice though. I notice on the weeks that I get close to 800 a day as an average that I lose more weight then on the weeks I am down around 500 or 600. I would say focus on your protein and the calories will take care of themselves. Especially if you are eating a balanced diet of good for you foods. *huggles* Felicia =0)

Thanks Felicia! I only have time to do the FitDay once in a while, but last time I did, I was averaging about 800-900 per day (this is counting 3 protein drinks). My NUT says that 60 grams of protein is minimum, and I was getting that in drinks alone, and food was extra, but she said that I should drop from 3 drinks down to 2. I have dropped to 2 drinks, which cuts about 120 calories. I see where many people try for closer to 100 grams of protein a day, and I have been trying to stay around 80-100. I don't count calories either and have been eating low-carb for the last 5 years, and still do. My NUT says we need at least 130 Grams of carbs per day for correct brain function, and that I should get them with whole grains. I am trying, but after all these years of super low carb, it is kind of hard to give myself permission to have them. I am great with water, I always have something to drink as long as I am not eating or in that 45 minutes to 1 hour within eating.....I am SO CONFUSED!------hence the poll. I guess I should add to the poll how much exercise? Thanks again for your help, Dawn

I do not really count calories either but hey when you are not eating it is easy to not count too. I think when I get back on track that I will be more on the counting calories. The Nut told us between 600-800 calories a day. I will aiming for that. Not sure if this helps out or not. Hugs~ Deanne

Dawn, My other suggestion is to make the time to log into Fitday every day so you can keep up with your food. Even if you don't do it till the end of the day. It really helps to see how much of everything you are taking in and helps you to make adjustments as necessary. Susan

Hi Dawn!! My surgeon's recommendations were to eat between 600-800 calories a day, with 60-90 grams of protein per day. I keep my carbs on the low side, I think. I don't know HOW I'd get in over 100 like your NUT suggests....Guess it could be done, but with as little as we are able to eat each day and with all the protein we need to get in..... As for how many calories, I have been eating about 700 cals per day lately. Not sure if my body was needing more calories and that's why I'm starting to lose again or if it's the housecleaning. LOL Either way, I'm glad the pounds are moving again. Hope that helped a little! Susan

I guess I get in around 700-800 per day and aim for 70-80 grams of protein. I, too try to eat low carb. I feel guilty when I have 1/2 a weigh****chers english muffin with peanut butter on it. It tastes soooo good every once in a while. I do make a big protein shake in the morning that I sip on for like an hour. It has a scoop of Whey and 12 oz of skim milk. That is where a lot of my calories goes. If I didn't do that, I would be able to keep my calories lower. Maybe I'll have to play with my menus and stay closer to 600-800 calories. It's still a learning process. Hugs, Tabby

I average around 600 -700 calories a day. I don't pay as much attention to calories though - I try to concentrate on protein, low fat, and lower carb (not completely low carb as I do eat some whole grains, beans etc)... My menu follows a formula of sorts... Breakfast - 15g protein Snack - 7g Lunch - 15g Snack - 7g Dinner - 15g These are minimums as far as the protein count, I make sure I have at LEAST that much but am happy if I can sneak in more.

I don't really count calories either, but from what I have read, it is usually around 600-800.... Not sure if this helps or not! Holly
