I'm so excited...

I probably shouldn't be, but I am. Today I had to take Megan to the PCP for her two year well baby checkup. While we were there, I told my PCP (whom I absolutely LOVE) that I had been getting yeast infections in my belly button. I have had THREE in the past two months. I clean good and try to dry it out good, but my skin is pulling my belly button, so it is like a long line and closed all the time. I put monistat in it to clear it up, but then a couple weeks later it starts getting red again. Well, this past week I have a patch down around my pubic area that is red. It is a patch down there and a matching patch on my excess skin where they rub together. I know that in order to get plastics covered that you need to have documentation of skin irritations. I figured I would mention it to see if she would put it in my chart to start the paper trail. She asked to see it and was like "ooooo...yeah....that definately doesn't look good. That'll be covered to get that removed. You definately want to have that taken care of when you get to your goal. I'll write letters and your surgeon that you chose will have to write letters, but that will definately get covered." I was so excited. I didn't know if I would have enough skin to get it covered, but I was hoping I would. I want to get boobs, but probably can't pay for them on my own, but if insurance covers the skin removal and anesthesia, I can pay for the boobs. I was secretly hoping I would have enough skin to get it done. Is it bad for me to be excited about that? She went right to the front office and pulled my chart to document it. She also wrote me a script for a powder to use to clear it up, instead of using the monistat lotion. She is so awsome. Is anyone else having a problem with excess skin and getting yeast infections? Is anyone else looking forward to getting approved for the panniculectomy (is that the right term?)? I just want to get online and start researching plastic surgeons, but I know it will be a few more months before I get to goal. I'm just getting anxious. I hate the way the skin looks. Just had to share... Hugs, Tabby

Yay I am so happy for you... I think? LOLOL If its what you want done then I say YIPPIE! I am a long way from knowing what I will end up with but unless its causing me medical problems I will not be having plastics. I cant afford to put my family in debt to have perky boobs or any other perky body part for that matter lolol. My insurance only covers a few things and they have to been super documented to even have them consider it so not having much high hopes in that area anyways. Hubby said NO WAY PERIOD. lol I don't blame him I don't want to either. So far its sucking up pretty good all over but my arms and my butt so I am hopeful. Good luck with what ever you end up doing!! *huggles* Felicia =0)

Thanks, Felicia. I'm not positive my insurance will cover it, but I'm glad that my PCP thinks so. I don't like the yeast infections. URGH!! I HATE MY BOOBS!!! From nursing two kids and losing weight countless times, they sag really bad. My hubby is a boob guy. He loves boobies. Hee Hee. I was complaining about them last week and he said "You'll get them some day." He wants me to get them, too. I wear padded bras all the time, even on my days off, just to make myself feel prettier and better about myself. He tells me I don't need to keep buying bras because I don't need to leave the house to go to work and only need one good one, but I like to wear them to keep my boobies up during the day. I'm glad my hubby supports me on this and wants the same thing as me. I just hope that the insurance covers it. They sag so much, insurance might even cover the boobies, too. Hee Hee. That would be so great!!! Gotta get my mind on something else because I probably shouldn't even go for a consult until this summer. That's a long time away.

Tabby, I hear ya lady!! Make sure you document every time you break out in a rash go to that DR. I found out to that my insurance would cover the Panniculectomy if it was documented but it has to be 6 months from the day I reach goal weight. So good luck!!! Hugs,

YIPPEE Tabby!!!! Document, document, document!!! And, call your insurance company to make sure they will cover it due to "medical necessity"....which you definitely have!!! My insurance will pay for the panniculectomy, no questions asked as long as I have it done by 12/31/07. After that point, I have to show medical necessity. Am checking on the boobs....I don't want implants, I just want them put back up on my chest where they belong!! I think I have to show medical necessity on that though. Oh well... So far I haven't had any rashes....but who knows what tomorrow might bring.... Susan

I have suffered from yeast infections also. Just lately, I've noticed them coming back with a vengence. My mother told me about using Dr. Scholls foot powder. It sounds weird, but it keeps the area dry and if I use it, I never get rashes. Glad you got the news you wanted, Tabby!

Tabby, why shouldn't you be excited, that is great news. I hope that your insurance does cover it. That would be so fantastic. I have thought about the surgery and I know I will need the panniculectomy. I am only half way about to where I want to get to weight wise and notice how bad I am sagging already. The boobs aren't where they belong either and I don't even want to think about how my arms are going to look in short sleeved shirts. Medically I will get the belly done but I don't think I will get the arms and boobs done. Money is not there for it and I am an old lady anyway.....It is so wonderful that your hubby supports you like that. Aren't most men boob guys? I get a rash under my boobs and hanging belly. I always thought it was heat rash but maybe it is yeast infection. You are lucky to have a doctor like you do that is so willing to help you. I know my surgeon told me that the belly will be covered and their plastics guy is so cool that he will alot of other times do other work while at it. I do hope that is the case. Buy enjoy the thought that this surgery may be covered for you. You deserve it....Take care....Gay

Gay...who is your surgeon and what plastics dr do they refer you to? I had my surgery in Pittsburgh at Magee. There were two surgeons I was looking at on a plastics board and I am leaning towards the one. The other seems too "Hollywood" to me. Kind of like Dr. 90210. Don't know. What insurance do you have? I have UPMC HMO. I work for UPMC. There was no problem getting approved for the WLS, so I hope they are kind of lienient about the plastics. Who knows. Guess it might be time to start working some OT to pay for it. Just wondering, Tabby

Tabby that is so awesome! I totally know the whole yeast thing too. I get it under my stomache and have for years. I have something that takes it away over night and it is great. And should you be happy ABSOLUTLELY!!! I was never so thrilled to find out that I have a hernia around my belly button! Dr says it is not related to surgery and I haev probably had it since birth...something to do with the umbilical cord...but who cares what it is from it means the chance of insurance covering plastics is far greater!!! YAY....so I say if I am happy about a hernia then you should be happy about yeast!! YAY YEAST!!!! It will be a LONG time before I am ready for that though AND when I am the 18 months out that I am supposed to be we are actually gonna TRY and have a baby. I want boobs too. I want the smaller though. I am a HH now and I want a nice DD. And having them picked up from around my darn waist at this point would be nice too!! Anywho enough babling from me I say happy happy joy joy !!!!! Hugs, Melissa

Tabby, Great news and glad that you have the documentation started for the plastics if that is what your insurance company requires from you. I am not sure if I will get the plasctics or not depends on if it is medically there. I can not afford to pay for the cost out of pocket right now so we shall see what the future brings. Hugs~~ Deanne
