Susie Homemaker - Wednesday
Okay....Felicia gave me the idea to post about housecleaning each day - what we are all doing, what we want to accomplish, what we want someone else to do, whatever. If you are working and want to post about your projects at work you are trying to complete, jump in with that too. It's all work in my book!!
Plus, by posting about my cleaning yesterday, it motivated me to actually get my franny (FLYlady term) to get up and moving instead of spending the day at the computer. I felt accountable to everyone here.
So, here's my idea. We will post what we are planning to do, show love and support to those who are posting about their houses and then when we are done, we will post that too so everyone can see that we did it!!
As I posted yesterday, I do a modified FLYlady thing. Each day (Mon-Fri) I work on a different room. Plus, do general things like laundry and kitchen duty. Once I get them all really clean (what I'm working on now) then it's a matter of minutes to keep them that way each week - other than when I need to do things like steam clean the carpets, that is.
Today is the day I clean my older boys room and the hallway bathroom.
My tasks will be:
1. Wash sheets and remake beds.
2. Dust
3. Clean window (their window always gets moldy - ICK)
4. Empty bookshelf of old books - make sell, donate, throw away piles. Move that bookshelf to my room and the small one in my room to their room. Reshelve the books they want to keep.
5. Vac and spot clean their carpet.
6. Bathe the dogs.
7. Re-scrub the tub.
8. Clean the mirror.
9. Wipe down the cabinet, door, switch plate and walls of fingerprints.
Then, there's the general maintenance that needs to be done.
1. I have 2 loads of laundry to fold and put away, 1 in the washer to put in the dryer and 4 loads remaining to wash, dry, fold and put away (including their bedding).
2. Make my bed and straighten the little guys beds.
3. Empty dishwasher and start reloading.
4. Begin dinner (roast for tonight with mashed potatoes, green beans and biscuits, maybe even dessert if I feel really motivated).
So, that's my list for the day. Once I complete that, I will exercise, shower and relax for the rest of the day! Can't wait till I get the house sparkling so it doesn't take so much time/effort to keep it sparkly!

Time for my lunchtime break update.
So far I've:
*folded and put away two loads of laundry. 1 in washer, 1 finishing drying (darn towels take FOREVER!!!)- 2 remaining to wash, dry, fold, put away....
*Book shelf sorted, books thrown away, books in stack to sell, books reshelved. Had to forego changing bookshelves due to the number of books they still have!! The bookshelf is STILL packed full...and I took out a huge number of them!!!! OH MY!! No wonder some of the shelves were bending!!
*kitchen cleaned - twice, once from breakfast, once from lunch.
*roast in crock pot and smelling WONDERFUL
*bedroom floor vac'd
*common areas cleared of clutter.
Still have to do bathroom chores after lunch, make beds and clean the bedroom window. Debating whether to spot clean the carpet or pull out the steam cleaner.....Or maybe skip it.
Going to skip washing the dogs. Just do NOT have the energy right now. MAYBE after I walk...but don't bet on it!!! Hmmm....you know, this sounds like a good chore for the older boys...
Will let you know when I'm DONE....
Wow, you guys really make me miss the days of having kids around to clean up after and taking care of. Since it is just Joe, me and the cats, things don't get too bad around here. That is why I need to go out and get a job, to keep myself busy, but then again it would have to be an evening job since we only have the one car. Oh well. But on today's agenda is:
Dusting and sweeping the house
Scrubbing the tub and toilet
A load of wash
Clean the litter box
Wrap Erin's birthday presents
Start with some of the prep work for the birthday dinner
Cut up a bunch of old clothes that no longer fit into rags for Joe to take to work
Clean cat paw prints off the outside of the picture window (darn cat)
Dinner for 4:00 when Joe gets home
And of course getting some exercising in there.
As for our swap Susan, I would not expect more than one day of cleaning for one meal. I too love to cook and then my house is not that hard to keep clean. I am a neat freak and without kids around, not much to do. Just hate cleaning the bathroom and it sounds like you do that quite well, so maybe the meal for the bathroom? Have a good one today all........Gay
Gay....
You made me giggle and brought back a GREAT memory. When I was younger and living at home (didn't get married till 24 and lived at home all but 14 months of that time -even while at college) my Mom and I had a deal. She would clean the kitchen and I would clean the bathroom. I know I'm a freak, but I love to clean the bathroom - minus scrubbing the tub. It's a quick easy room to clean. It's so small and most everything can just be wiped down and bang it's clean! I would have the bathroom cleaned and sparkly before my Mom would be finished with the dishes. Of course, back then it was my parents and me - all of us adults - so it was no problem. Now that I'm cleaning up after 4 messy boys with bad aim, I don't particularly enjoy cleaning the hallway bathroom. But, I do it because that's the one guests use. Don't want a corner Exxon station in the house!!
So, SURE! I'll do one bathroom cleaning in exchange for one meal. You've got a deal, for sure!!

No housecleaning here.....
Working from 8am - 5pm
Going the post office at lunch for postage for wedding invitations
Teaching 2 piano lessons after work (6-7:15ish)
Heading to the gym (1 hour water aerobics and 1/2 hour on the treadmill)
Finally getting home at 9....
the plan for after arriving home?...
assembling wedding invitations, we spent last night making sure we had everything addressed and ready to throw together...tonight we are getting them ready to go in the mail tomorrow.
Hi Patricia!!!
I'm so glad you posted your To Do List for today!!
Even if it's not cleaning, it's still stuff you have/need to do.
It all counts!!!
Ahhhh....the wedding invitations...I remember those.... 15 years was a long time ago, but my hand still aches from hand addressing all those envelopes!! lol Good memories though.....at least most of them. Don't get me started about my MIL before she became my MIL........ Thank goodness she's MUCH better now... WHEW
Susan
I AM DONE!!!
I did skip some things....but because I ended up doing other things. In all I spent about 5 hours cleaning the one bedroom and the bathroom....plus doing the regular stuff.
I'm too exhausted to even go into what I accomplished....just know I have two very clean, good smelling rooms in my house. The boys even noticed!!!!!! And, said something about it which is even more shocking!
Hope everyone had a good day!
Susan
