Ok so not sure if everyone is a measure person but I have been. BUT OMG...I have been measureing using cups etc... Well today I started using the food scale and OMG I have in no way been eating the 3oz of meats they are wanting me to. Has anyone else ever looked at what they are eating and said....there is no way I can eat that much. I mean 3 oz is way over the 1/2 cup I have been eating. I sit here looking at what is still left to eat and think there is no way i can eat all this. Just wondered how everyone else measures and what your thoughts were. I know prob a silly ? but it was just shocking to me. I have been getting in all my protein but with usually 2 shakes a day. Thanks for listening to me ramble...I am still in shock! melissa

I have not been big on measuring things. I usually just put some on my plate using my eye and I need to measure more things in the future. Not a silly ? at all but it makes you wonder what everyone is doing. I am sure I would be in shock too if I did weight the 3 oz of meat out and sit down and try and eat it. Deanne

Deanne, I can not wait for things to get back to normal for you. I know it can not be fun. I BARELY made it through...WILL NOT DO THAT AGAIN! Was just way to much. I will stick to my 1/2 cup that I have been doing. There is just no way that i can eat that much. I am sucking down a gas-x strip now feeling horrible. I have an email into the nut to see what she has to say. She has been happy with what I was eating so I think she will prob just tell me to go back to what was working for me. I just know that there is not way I can eat 3 oz of meat at one sitting. Just not going to happen. I know hubby can at 7 months out but not me. Thanks for listening...it makes me feel not so out there in left field that it was just me. Hugs, Melissa

I can not wait to get back to normal either but that is an understandment to say the least. I am not sure I would of stuck it out like you did. If the 3 oz's do not work now but the 1/2 cup does then stick with it. At least there is hope that if hubby can do it at 7 months out others can do it too. You are not out there!! Just a question to make us all think and aware of things. Hugs~~ Deanne

Hey melissa, I'm not a meassurer per se, when I have oatmeal and special k protein ceral for breakfast I measure a half cup. When I'm eating lunch and dinner I just eye ball it. My nut told me that when I have lean meat such as chicken or pork or any type of meat, a portion is the size of a deck of cards or the palm of your hand. I always eat my protein first, then veggies and occasionally 3-4 mouthfuls of starch. As I don't do protein shakes I try to get all my protein in w/ foods. I do occasionally eat "pure protein bars" if I think my protein is not the amt it's supposed to be. Good luck. Donna, sfy

Hey Melissa... As you know, I'm a measuring fool! I measure everything. And, like you, I was in shock when I saw how much meat was in 3 oz. I can usually eat 1.5 - 2 oz of meat at most. So, it depends on what it is as to how I measure. Somethings I weigh, others I use cups. If I'm in doubt about how much it is in the cup, then I measure it to make sure it's not over my 3-4 oz that I know I can handle. Hope that helps. But, I doubt it because as I re-read it, I'm confused and I know what I said!!! Susan

LOL Yup quite a bit of difference between cups and ounces. Thats why I weigh everything. I like to know exact amounts of what I am eating. Anal that way LOLOLOL!! I just cant imagine trying to guess on how much protein and stuff I am getting in. I am so scatter brained though that I usually forget what I have eaten half way through a day so its in my best interest to track it. "guessing" got me fat lol The fact is that my eyes will ALWAYS be bigger then my tummy no matter what tummy control I have now. There will always be that one more bite. I guess I just want to change my lifestyle. If knowing exactly what I am putting in my mouth not only gets me to goal but keeps me there well thats the way it goes and I will track it for life. Not like it takes long anyways lolol. *huggles* Felicia =0)

I always use a scale to measure my meats. I can only eat 1.5 to 2 ounces at a time. You should only use cups to measure liquid things or foods such as cereal. In reality, 1/2 cup is 4 ounces of liquid. The deck of cards trick is good to remember if you are eating out since it's a little embarrasing to haul out a scale in a restaurant, lol!
