OT: Update on housecleaning...

Well....even with all the procrastinating, I'm still accomplishing things. I've managed to wash, dry, fold and put away all but 5 loads of laundry. 1 is in the washer. 1 is in the dryer and 3 more are sorted and waiting to be done. The kitchen is sparkling. (cleaned it to avoid cleaning the bathrooms.) The living room is straightened and I'm planning on vaccing it as soon as I finish this post (to avoid the cleaning the bathrooms). Then I need to start dinner (to avoid......) Hmmm....anyone notice a trend?????? I think I'm trying to avoid cleaning the bathrooms!! Actually, they are fairly clean - with the exception of the tubs. I HATE HATE HATE to scrub the tubs, but it MUST be done. Maybe I should just do it. Then, what a sense of accomplishment I'll feel. OH...gotta tell you guys this....my house smells soooo yummy right now. I am tired of all my air fresheners, candles, etc. but I wanted something going to make the house smell good - without having to bake. So, I got a small pan and filled it 3/4 full of water, put it on to boil and added a few drops of peppermint essential oils. Once the water got hot and the scent started coming out, I turned it down to low. The house is smelling GREAT. And, peppermint is such a pepper-upper, kwim? I'm really enjoying it!!! I think I'll try vanilla next time. Now, I'm off to do the tubs......maybe.... Susan

You are a woman after my own heart. The tubs are the worst...I am glad it is just hubby and I .... do not need to clean it as much as a full house! I was cleaning this morning too....did the computer desk..throwing out all the crap that piles up on it...the things we print and then later look at and say.hmmmmmwhy the heck did I print that...can you say big bag of trash!! Then cleaned out the finance desk...Got the shredder out and shredded old checks..deposit slips..bank statements etc...ok so what am I avoiding...oh that is right THE DISHES!!! I think we all do it...I will have to try the peppermint oil thing...sounds like a great idea..maybe when hubby comes home one night! He loves when I have all the candles going and it smells good..don't tell though he would never admit it Hey if anyone is into the tub cleaning thing since Susan already got to hers I have one here in Jersey that is calling you! hugs everyone, Melissa

Tubs and toilets are my worst part of the bathroom for me. I need to clean some as well but if I feel like it tomorrow that I will do it then. Started laundry before I came into work this AM, so I will put them into the dryer when I get home from work. I will have to try the peppermint oil thing or the other scents. You can always come to Iowa to clean the tubs at my house when you are done with yours, Susan. Hugs~~ Deanne

HA!!! Did you see how long I put off doing it this morning??? And, that's because I finally told myself it had to be done before I went to bed tonight....or else. Not sure what I was going to threaten myself with, but it was going to be bad. I HATE HATE HATE cleaning the tubs. I will do anything else rather than them.... Hee Hee Melissa...If you find someone willing to scrub the tubs, let me know so I can have them do mine next time!!! Now I need to clean off the computer desk...and my desk in the kitchen....... Nah...I'll get to that another day. Susan

HEY SUSAN, WOULD YOU LIKE TO COME TO MY HOUSE AND DO SOME SPRUCING UP? I ABSOLUTELY HATE, HATE, HATE CLEANING. DON'T WE ALL? WHAT I HATE THE MOST IS THIS, YOU SPEND ALL DAY MAKING THE HOUSE SPOTLESS, IT'S SPARKLING. IN COMES THE FAMILY, DOESN'T NOTICE THE HOUSE, THEY JUST START LAYING AND THROWING THINGS OVER THE KITCHEN CHAIR, THE DINING ROOM CHAIR OR OVER THE COUCH. MAKES ME NUTS. THEN WHEN YOU SAY SOMETHING THEY ALL GET CRANKY, WHAT GIVES? THEY JUST TAKE FOR GRANTED THAT THE HOUSE WILL BE CLEAN AND THEY'LL JUST ENJOY IT W/O ANY OF THE EFFORT TO KEEP IT CLEAN. SHEESH!!!! THE TUBS, I DON'T REALLY MIND DOING THE TUBS, I PICKED UP THAT MISTER CLEAN SCRUBING BRUSH ON A POLL, IT WORKS GREAT AND YOU DON'T HAVE TO BEND. NOW THE TOILET? OH MY GOD, THAT'S THE WORST OF THE CLEANING. HERE'S ANOTHER GOOD SMELL FOR THE HOUSE. IN THE POT ON THE STOVE ADD A CINNAMON STICK, A CLOVE AND A SLICE OF ORANGE. DELISH!!! DONNA, SFY

MMMMMMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmm....If I had a cinnamon stick, a clove and an orange I would do that NOW!!! As for cleaning....sorry, I have all I can say grace over at my house. I'm wishing I could afford someone to come in and do the things I hate.... scrub the tub, mop and dust. I don't mind the rest of what it takes to clean house, but those three chores are my most hated ones of all. I'd rather clean the toilet than do those three....must be why my toilets are sparkly, but it's dusty, the floors need mopped and the tubs have soap scum most of the time. Susan

YOU GO FLYLADY!!! LOLOL I do the peppermint thing every day but not with peppermint I do it with cinnamon lol We have a pellet stove so I just pop a pan on top of it and fill it full of water and whatever smell I am in the mood for and yum all day and night long lol.
