OT: Latest update on housecleaning...
Well... I did it. I scrubbed both tubs, toilets and sinks. Swiffered both bathrooms, swept the kitchen floor, vac'ed the entire house - minus the little boys room, too many toys - folded and put away another load of laundry, moved the laundry from the washer to the dryer and started another load washing and made all the kids beds. Oh...and I've started dinner. In a few minutes, the dryer will kick off and I'll fold and put those away and start new loads in washer and dryer.....and at 3:00 I will leave the house to go to the grocery to pick up more cleaning supplies, a roast for tomorrow night's dinner, and Matthew's med refills....then I'll go pick up the kids from school, come home, finish dinner and relax for the rest of the evening.
WHEW...
I thought it was bad when I was doing it...but now that I've read it, I'm even more exhausted!!! lol Oh well, at least the house is cleaner....Just wish I didn't smell so dusty....was downwind when I went to clean out the filter from the vac....OOPS....Oh well...
Susan
WHEW IS RIGHT.
YOU'VE MADE ME TIRED JUST READING EVERYTHING YOU'VE DONE.
YOU'RE A BETTER WOMAN THAT I AM. I TACKLE ONE THING A WEEK THEN START ALL OVER THE NEXT MONTH.
FIRST WEEK: DUST
SECOND WEEK: VACCUM
THIRD WEEK: BATHROOM (YUCK)
FOURTH WEEK; WINDOWS
INBETWEEN I'LL DO THE LAUDRY.
EVERYONE IS RESPONSABLE FOR THEIR OWN BEDS.
DONNA, SFY
Hey Donna...
Well, now that I'm a SAHM, I figure this is my "job" so I do almost everything now in the house. The kids do have their chores, but the main house cleaning is mine. I just couldn't take looking at their unmade beds any longer when I went in to put away their clothes, so I paused a minute and did that too. LOL
However, when I worked, I had a schedule a lot like yours. Every week had a specific task/room/whatever to be done. Since being back home, I've just cleaned like a lunatic when I've either felt like it or it "needed" to be done. Today I remembered what I did when the kids were little and I was home every day.
This was my schedule, and I plan to start it again tomorrow morning. Every day has a specific room that gets cleaned, plus laundry and the daily kitchen cleaning.
Monday - Living room
Tuesday - Kitchen (this is trash day, so I clean out the refrigerator and take it straight to the curb so no bad smells in the garbage can, lol)
Wednesday - The older boys room and the hallway bathroom. (I do both on that day as they keep their room fairly straight, I only have to wash sheets, dust and vac - maybe clean the window if it's needed)
Thursday - The little boys room - ALWAYS a wreck and takes tons of time to get things back where they belong after the boys have thrown them into the closet when they "clean"
Friday - My bedroom and bathroom. I like to have it nice for the weekend...sort of a retreat after the week.
Saturday and Sunday are maintaining days as far as the house is concerned. That way we can spend time together as a family doing fun stuff rather than clean.
So....beginning tomorrow, this goes into effect again. I know everyone will be happier when I get all the rooms sparkly clean and it only takes a short amount of time every morning to clean house. Plus, it will give me more guilt free time to be on the computer or reading or watching movies.... who knows, I may get back into baking bread again...
Susan
Wow, I am exhausted just reading about your day !!!!! Mine has been a laid back one today and I had a visit from my middle daughter. She brought me over her spring form pan so I can make one of the Dairy Queen Ice Cream cakes this weekend for my oldest daughters birthday party. For birthdays they get to pick what they want for dinner and Erin has chosen a fondue and the cake. So I have about 12 different dippers I am going to make. Everything from ham balls stuffed with pineapple, mini cheese burgers, reuben balls, crab and potato balls, beer battered fish and crab and of course the vegetables, chicken strips, marinated venison, dough balls. We find it, we dip it........ So it will be fun getting all of this together for Saturday. Hope you can relax this evening Susan as your day seemed quite exhausting. Have a good one......Gay
I am also exhausted just reading what you have accomplished today!! I have had a productive day at work though.
I hope the clean house does not get to dirty to quickly for you. I know mine seems to get dirty faster than I would like it to.
I also hope that you can sit down tonight to rest some.
Hugs~~
Deanne
Hi Deanne!!
Sorry I made you tired. lol But, I'm glad you were able to get things accomplished at work today.
The clean house will be dirty soon....all the boys are home. I've already had to remind them to put away the backpacks instead of dropping them in the floor. What makes me crazy is when they drop them in the floor IN FRONT of the closet where they belong! ARRRRRRRGGGGGGGG!!!!!! And, they've all been reminded about their shoes..... Well, all except for Matthew (#2 - aka Mr. Asthma). He was with me for all that time and saw how much I do...so he started helping me...and hasn't stopped. He came home, put away his laundry (I don't put away the older two boys, just fold and put on their dressers) and found me to hug me and say thanks for the clean clothes, making his bed and vaccing their floor. He also thanked me for dinner - which he said looked yummy. He's the only one who noticed the house was clean. The others are oblivious....oh well....I think Matthew is looking for a larger allowance...or a car when he's 16....maybe both.
Susan
Wow Gay....will you do my birthday party???? Please?????!!!!!!!! You are amazing!! I got hungry just reading all the food you will be making. I don't blame Erin. I'd choose that too.
As for this evening...I can guarantee I'm going to relax. I'm tired!!! And, most everything has been taken care of for now.
Susan
OK Susan, we will swap......I will do your birthday dinner and you can come and clean my house, since it sounds like you do such a good job at it.....Actually the fondues are so much fun. Just making all the little things and then sitting around the table, cooking it all, having a nice glass of wine and laughing our butts off. I will not have the wine this year and will watch what I eat but will be loving the idea of having the whole family together. Have a nice evening......Gay
LOL Gay. Not sure about swapping cleaning all year for cooking once... Unless you want to cook for us every night..... We just might have a deal then... Although, I have to admit, I love to cook, I hate washing dishes. I tell the boys, that's why I have them....which is hysterical because that's what my Mom always told me.
The birthday parties at your house sound GREAT!! Have fun at the upcoming one!!
Susan
WHEW!!!! You go girl!!! I am also exhausted hearing what all you do in a day. I SUCK at cleaning. REALLY SUCK!!! I tried to do the flylady thing, fell off the wagon when I got my approval for surgery and never got back on. I loved the way I felt when I was "flying". I really need to get back into that. I am a WAHM and still don't get done enough. I put stuff away and the kids tear it out. But they are 2 and 4 1/2, so I don't really expect them to pick up after themselves yet. Nate should a little more than he does, but I get more frustrated fighting with him to clean up. Maybe tomorrow will have enough energy to start "flying" again. Gotta go check out that website and see where they are. My house is too cluttered.
Hope today isn't as exhausting for you.
Hugs,
Tabby
